Abstract
• “A bad label is a bad product or a service, – the quality of a product or a service is just as good as it’s label carrying information about it”. • 70 – 80 % of all mistakes across all major industries / sectors are caused by labeling errors • The nature and the factors causing labeling errors have been found to be very similar in nature • Labeling errors can further be classified into the following classes: • Incomplete / Wrong information • Wrong label • Wrong location / orientation • Damaged / Torn or defaced labels • Generally, the practice of centrally batch printing labels and manually distributing labels to the workplace produces several opportunities for simple mistakes including: • Incorrect quantity of parts being packed in a container • Incorrect label being placed on the container
