Abstract
Abstract. This paper describes an approach to prototyping navigation in webbased information systems. The WebML language is used as a tool for modeling navigation aspects of such applications. As the information systems are intended to support user tasks, proper navigation mechanisms are crucial to make the user access to information efficient. Our approach is intended to support prototyping of navigation as a mean for communicating design decisions and model evolution. It is based on extracting a state machine from the WebML hypertext model.
