We treat free large N superconformal field theories as holographic duals of higher spin (HS) gauge theories expanded around AdS spacetime with radius R. The HS gauge theories contain massless and light massive AdS fields. The HS current correlators are written in a crossing symmetric form including only exchange of other HS currents. This and other arguments point to the existence of a consistent truncation to massless HS fields. A survey of massless HS theories with 32 supersymmetries in D = 4,5,7 (where the 7D results are new) is given and the corresponding composite operators are discussed. In the case of AdS4, the cubic couplings of a minimal bosonic massless HS gauge theory are described. We examine high energy/small tension limits giving rise to massless HS fields in the Type IIB string on AdS5 × S 5 and M theory on AdS 4/7 × S 7/4. We discuss breaking of HS symmetries to the symmetries of ordinary supergravity, and a particularly natural Higgs mechanism in AdS5 × S 5 and AdS4 × S 7 where the HS symmetry is broken by finite gYM. In AdS5 × S 5 it is shown that the supermultiplets of the leading Regge trajectory cross over into the massless HS spectrum. We propose that g 2 YM = 0 corresponds to a critical string tension of order 1/R2 and a finite string coupling of

We give a oneparameter family of exact solutions to fourdimensional higherspin gauge theory invariant under a deformed higherspin extension of SO(3,1) and parameterized by a zeroform invariant. All higherspin gauge fields vanish, while the metric interpolates between two asymptotically AdS4 regions via a dS3foliated domainwall and two RobertsonWalkerlike H3foliated spacetimes – one in the future and one in the past – with the scalar field playing the role of foliation parameter. All Weyl tensors vanish, including that of spin two. We furthermore discuss methods for constructing solutions, including deformation of solutions to pure AdS gravity, the gaugefunction approach, the perturbative treatment of (pseudo)singular initial data describing

The minimal bosonic higher spin gauge theory in four dimensions contains massless particles of spin s = 0, 2, 4,.. that arise in the symmetric product of two spin 0 singletons. It is based on an infinite dimensional extension of the AdS4 algebra a la Vasiliev. We derive an expansion scheme in which the gravitational gauge fields are treated exactly and the gravitational curvatures and the higher spin gauge fields as weak perturbations. We also give the details of an explicit iteration procedure for obtaining the field equations to arbitrary order in curvatures. In particular, we highlight The correspondence between weakly coupled gauged supergravity in AdS5 and strongly coupled supersymmetric YangMills theory living on the four dimensional boundary of AdS5 has been intensely studied in recent years and these studies have led to many interesting results. We formulate four dimensional higher spin gauge theories in spacetimes with signature (4 −p,p) and nonvanishing cosmological constant. Among them are chiral models in Euclidean (4,0) and Kleinian (2,2) signature involving halfflat gauge fields. Apart from the maximally symmetric solutions, including de Sitter spacetime, we find: (a) SO(4 − p,p) invariant deformations, depending on a continuous and infinitely many discrete parameters, including a degenerate metric of rank one; (b) nonmaximally symmetric solutions with vanishing Weyl tensors and higher spin gauge fields, that differ from the maximally symmetric solutions in the auxiliary field sector; and (c) solutions of the chiral models furnishing higher spin generalizations of Type D gravitational instantons, with an infinite tower of Weyl tensors proportional to totally symmetric products of two principal spinors. These are apparently the first exact 4D solutions with nonvanishing
