2005, Nannobacteria and the formation of framboidal pyrite; Textual evidence

by Robert L Folk - Journal of Earth Systems Science
"... Study of sedimentary pyrite in the form of framboids, euhedral crystals or metasomatic masses has revealed that their surfaces are commonly covered with spheroids of about 50 nm. This applies to all the examples studied, from modern to Proterozoic. These spheroids are interpreted as the pyritized co ..."

Study of sedimentary pyrite in the form of framboids, euhedral crystals or metasomatic masses has revealed that their surfaces are commonly covered with spheroids of about 50 nm. This applies to all the examples studied, from modern to Proterozoic. These spheroids are interpreted as the pyritized corpses of nannobacterial cells; if correct, this indicates that precipitation of iron sulfide was performed by these dwarf forms of bacteria, often associated with decaying organic matter. 1.

Integrating Ontological Knowledge and Textual Evidence in Estimating Gene and Gene Product Similarity

by Christian Posse, Banu Gopalan, Stephen Tratz, Michelle Gregory
"... With the rising influence of the Gene Ontology, new approaches have emerged where the similarity between genes or gene products is obtained by comparing Gene Ontology code annotations associated with them. So far, these approaches have solely relied on the knowledge encoded in the Gene Ontology and ..."

and the gene annotations associated with the Gene Ontology database. The goal of this paper is to demonstrate that improvements to these approaches can be obtained by integrating textual evidence extracted from relevant biomedical literature. 1

Investigating Distributed Approaches to Efficiently Extract Textual Evidences for Biomedical Ontologies

by Long Cheng, Yue Ma
"... Abstract—Heterogeneous data resources in biomedicine be-come available both in structured and unstructured formats, such as scientific publications, healthcare guidelines, controlled vocabularies, and formal ontologies. Bridging the gaps among these heterogeneous data is useful to discovery implicit ..."

implicit knowl-edge. To make this happen, efficient computational approaches are a necessity for applications in such a knowledge- and data-intensive domain. In this paper, we first define a particular task, relation alignment, which is to identify textual evidences for biomedical ontologies. Then, we

Using Linear Algebra for Intelligent Information Retrieval

by Michael W. Berry, Susan T. Dumais - SIAM REVIEW , 1995
"... Currently, most approaches to retrieving textual materials from scientific databases depend on a lexical match between words in users' requests and those in or assigned to documents in a database. Because of the tremendous diversity in the words people use to describe the same document, lexical ..."

Semantic taxonomy induction from heterogenous evidence

by Rion Snow - In Proceedings of COLING/ACL 2006 , 2006
"... We propose a novel algorithm for inducing semantic taxonomies. Previous algorithms for taxonomy induction have typically focused on independent classifiers for discovering new single relationships based on hand-constructed or automatically discovered textual patterns. By contrast, our algorithm flex ..."

Visual Analysis for Textual Relationships in Digital Forensics Evidence

by T. J. Jankun-kelly, David Wilson, Andrew S. Stamps, Josh Franck, Jeffrey Carver

Editing Textual Synergies: New Historicism and “New Textualism”

by unknown authors
"... Abstract New Historicism has alerted critics to the complex conditions of literary production in the age of the printing press. The revisionist challenge presented by Jerome J. It demonstrates the extent of text variation caused by agents other than the author and in so doing presents evidence of a highly interactive textual practice in early modern

A Joint Model of Text and Aspect Ratings for Sentiment Summarization

by Ivan Titov, Ryan McDonald - PROC. ACL-08: HLT , 2008
