for high performance Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) is developing and improving the performance of a Francis turbine, which is a typical turbine used in hydraulic power plants, by using the latest computational fluid dynamics (CFD). To optimize the total turbine performance, an entire flow analysis is used. In this CFD analysis, an analysis is made on the entire water passage components from inlet of spiral case to outlet of draft tube which enable to evaluate the total performance of turbines by numerical simulation. As for the runner design, MHI has established a new runner design method to adjust the load distribution on the runner blades by controlling the secondary flow on the blade surfaces to reduce losses.1 After verifying the accuracy of the results of CFD analysis for these designs in comparison with the model test results, the

A Technical Approach to Net Neutrality
- In Proceedings of ACM HotNets-V
, 2006
"... A recent statement by AT&T CEO Ed Whitacre sparked considerable fear in the public that the Internet may not be open any more: the ISPs dictate which sites/applications flourish and which flounder. The statement triggered the heated debate on net neutrality and ignited the battle to enact net ne ..."

Our design prevents an ISP from deterministically harming an application, a competing service, or singling out an individual

Bone histomorphometry has been the gold standard in the evaluation and diagnosis of renal osteodystrophy. The recent new definition of renal osteodystrophy as chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder has once again highlighted the use of bone biopsy as a powerful and diagnostic tool to determine skeletal abnormalities in chronic kidney disease. The procedure of iliac crest bone biopsy has been proved safe and associated with very minimal morbidity. In this review, the clinical indications, preparation, instrumentation, and potential complications are discussed. Because current biochemical markers are poor predictors of bone turnover, volume, and mineralization, a wider use of bone biopsy and histomorphometry will lead to a better understanding of the bone and mineral disorders that are associated with chronic kidney disease. Clin J Am Soc Nephrol 3: S164–S169, 2008. doi: 10.2215/CJN.00460107 R enal osteodystrophy represents a spectrum of skeletallesions that range from high-turnover disorders (oste-itis fibrosa and mild lesions of secondary hyperpara-thyroidism) to low-turnover bone diseases (osteomalacia and adynamic lesion) (1). Mixed lesions of renal osteodystrophy have histologic evidence of both osteomalacia and hyperpara-thyroidism, with the rate of bone formation depending on the predominant lesion. Bone biopsy is the gold standard to estab-lish the precise diagnosis of renal osteodystrophy, determine

After several years of research, the fundamental Semantic Web technologies have reached a high maturity level. Nevertheless, the average Web user has not yet taken advantage of their full potential. In this paper, we introduce the Semantic Web bottleneck, analyse the main problems that preserve it and suggest ways to overcome it. In particular, we discuss the issues involved in deploying, maintaining and using semantically rich Web applications, decomposing this process into two primal ones: publishing and exploiting semantic content. We analyse the role of key players such as the Web industry, the search engines, the academia, the Web user, and the Web engineers that essentially materialise and use these technologies. A roadmap is provided in order for the Semantic Web to gain further acceptance, based on three major axes: simplicity, mainly entailed by automation, integration with the existing
