Xen’s memory sharing mechanism, called the grant mecha-nism, is used to share I/O buffers in guest domains ’ mem-ory with a driver domain. Previous studies have identified the grant mechanism as a significant source of network I/O overhead in Xen. This paper describes a redesigned grant mechanism to significantly reduce the associated overheads. Unlike the original grant mechanism, the new mechanism al-lows guest domains to unilaterally issue and revoke grants. As a result, the new mechanism makes it simple for the guest OS to reduce the number of grant issue and revoke opera-tions that are needed for I/O by taking advantage of tempo-ral and/or spatial locality in its use of I/O buffers. Another benefit of the new mechanism is that it provides a unified interface for memory sharing, whether between guest and driver domains, or between guest domains and I/O devices using IOMMU hardware. We have developed an implemen-tation of the new grant mechanism that fully supports driver domains, but not yet IOMMUs. The paper presents perfor-mance results using this implementation which show that the new mechanism reduces per-packet overhead by up to 31 % and increases network throughput by up to 52%.

Choice of rating, setting, and co-ordination of protective devices is very vital for improving the power quality in power systems. This necessitates detection and classification of the faults quickly and accurately. In this paper Wavelet Transforms have been used to obtain the detailed and approximate coefficients of the fault signal. An algorithm is developed based on the histogram representation of these detailed and approximate coefficients to classify the faults. The effectiveness of this new method is compared with that of the fuzzy logic.

project planning, project monitoring and project termination. The substratal goals of planning are to scout for the future, to diagnose the attributes that are essentially done for the consummation of the project successfully, animate the scheduling and allocate resources for the attributes. Software cost estimation is a vital role in preeminent software project decisions such as resource allocation and bidding. This paper articulates the conventional overview of software cost estimation modus operandi available. The cost, effort estimates of software projects done by the various companies are congregated, the results are segregated with the present cost models and the MRE (Mean Relative Error) is enumerated. We have administered the historical data to COCOMO 81, COCOMOII model and identified that the stellar predicament is that no cost model gives the exact estimate of a software project. This is due to the fact that a lot of productivity factors are not contemplated in estimation process. The vital dilemma we identified is that “software reuse ” is being eclipsed although most of the contemporary software projects are based on object oriented development where no component is made from scratch (Inheritance). By using the principal of software reuse the ROI (Return of Investment) is also bolstered for the companies. So further research exposure is in “software Reuse ” and Reuse software cost estimation model.

An evaluation shows Chopstix requires under 1 % of the CPU, under 256KB of RAM, and under 16MB of disk space per day to collect a rich set of system-wide data. 1

ABSTRACT Geriatric age group is increasing and the world will see a more number of older persons than children in the near future due to a greater life expectancy at birth. With increasing population comes increasing challenges particularly health, which tends to deteriorate as people age. One of the important determinants of health status of a population is the health seeking behaviour. The study was undertaken to assess the common morbidities and Health seeking behaviour among the geriatric population in the selected villages under Lahowal Block of Dibrugarh district, Assam. A total of 370 elderly persons aged 60 years and above were included in the study using multistage sampling design. Statistical Analysis was done using proportions, Chi-square test. Out of 370 elderly (> 60) 55.4% were 'young old', 42.2% 'old old'. 55.4% were literates. 47.3% had musculoskeletal problems. Hypertension was found in 35.2% of males and 37% of females. Respiratory problems were found in 43.2% of males as compared to 41.3% of females. Educational status was found to be significantly associated (p<0.05) with health care seeking behavior. About (79%) male and female (85%) preferred Government health care delivery system. The commonest reason cited for not seeking any form health care was that the illness is inevitable, minor and will resolve by itself (51.7%).
