OFDM for Digital TV Terrestrial Broadcasting
"... This paper treats the problem of digital TV terrestrial broadcasting in presence of co-channel interference from analogue TV services. The channel capacity is calculated for the optimum distribution of the transmitted power. An OFDM scheme is presented which is designed to be robust to the analogue ..."

Secure communication in digital TV broadcasting
- International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security
, 2008
"... To provide subscription-based Digital TV (DTV) data, services providers scramble the data stream (program content) with some secure measures such as ECM and EMM via using control words, and send the stream to conditional access system (CAS) in the set-top box (STB). Smart card is used to decrypt the ..."

Presenting Multimedia on the Web and in TV broadcast
- In 3rd European Conference on Multimedia Applications, Services and Techniques
, 1998
"... This paper investigates the main issues related to the translation of SMIL into MHEG-5 documents. This is driven by the more general objective to achieve interoperability between the domains of Web and digital-TV, where MHEG-5 is used in the digital-TV environment and SMIL is the Web format to speci ..."

DVB-H: Digital Broadcast Services to Handheld Devices
- in Proceedings of the IEEE
, 2006
"... This paper gives a brief review of the new Digital Video Broadcasting—Handheld (DVB-H) standard. This is based on the earlier standard DVB-T, which is used for terrestrial digital TV broadcasting. Touch TV: Adding Feeling to Broadcast Media
- in proceedings of the European Conference on Interactive Television: from Viewers to Actors
, 2003
"... In this paper, we discuss the potential role haptic, or touch, feedback might play in supporting a greater sense of immersion in broadcast content and describe some preliminary scenarios we have developed to explore how haptic content might be created and delivered within the context of a broadcast ..."

The goal of this work is to detect hand and arm positions over continuous sign language video sequences of more than one hour in length. We cast the problem as inference in a generative model of the image. Under this model, limb detection is expensive due to the very large number of possible configurations each part can assume. We make the following contributions to reduce this cost: (i) using efficient sampling from a pictorial structure proposal distribution to obtain reasonable configurations; (ii) identifying a large set of frames where correct configurations can be inferred, and using temporal tracking elsewhere. Results are reported for signing footage with changing background, challenging image conditions, and different signers; and we show that the method is able to identify the true arm and hand locations. The results exceed the state-of-the-art for the length and stability of continuous limb tracking. 1
On Burst Transmission Scheduling in Mobile TV Broadcast Networks
"... In mobile TV broadcast networks, the base station broadcasts TV channels in bursts such that mobile devices can receive a burst of traffic and then turn off their radio frequency circuits till the next burst in order to save energy. To achieve this energy saving without scarifying streaming quality, ..."
