Unrealistic optimism about future life events.

by Neil D Weinstein - Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, , 1980
"... Two studies investigated the tendency of people to be unrealistically optimistic about future life events. In Study 1, 258 college students estimated how much their own chances of experiencing 42 events differed from the chances of their classmates. Overall, they rated their own chances to be above ..."

Collaborative Future Event Recommendation

by Einat Minkov, Seth Teller, Ben Charrow, Tommi Jaakkola, Jonathan Ledlie
"... We demonstrate a method for collaborative ranking of future events. Previous work on recommender systems typically relies on feedback on a particular item, such as a movie, and generalizes this to other items or other people. In contrast, we examine a setting where no feedback exists on the particul ..."

Hyperlocal Event Extraction of Future Events

by Tobias Arrskog, Peter Exner, Peter Norl
"... Abstract. From metropolitan areas to tiny villages, there is a wide variety of organizers of cultural, business, entertainment, and social events. These organizers publish such information to an equally wide variety of sources. Every source of published events uses its own document structure and pro ..."

This paper explores the possibilities of extracting future events from a wide range of web sources, to determine if the document structure and content can be exploited for time-efficient hyperlocal event scraping. Can Future Events Influence the Present?

by J. Finkelstein , 1995
"... Widom, Srivastava, and Sassaroli [Phys. Lett. A 203, 255 (1995)] have published a calculation which purports to show that “future events can affect present events”. In this note an error in their calculation is identified. ..."

Hybrid models for future event prediction

by Roi Blanco, Ulf Brefeld - In CIKM , 2011
"... We present a hybrid method to turn off-the-shelf information retrieval (IR) systems into future event predictors. Given a query, a time series model is trained on the publication dates of the retrieved documents to capture trends and periodicity of the associated events. The periodicity of historic ..."

Future event logic - axioms and complexity

by Hans Van Ditmarsch, Tim French, Sophie Pinchinat - In Advances in Modal Logic
"... In this paper we present a sound and complete axiomatization of future event logic. Future event logic is a logic that generalizes a number of dynamic epistemic logics, by using a new operator ⊲ that acts as a quantifier over the set of all refinements of a given model. (A refinement is like a bisim ..."

Successful capture of Chelsea vs Wolves game using OmniCam and Arri‟s Alexa camera Gesture control of home TV setup proposed using head and hands tracking FascinatE scripting development to allow user selection of scene down to mobile devices used by individuals are covered. Interaction methods tailored to the device, e.g. hand gestures for big devices and touch gestures for the smaller ones are investigated. Just recently we have finished our first test shoot, where we had the opportunity to capture a full range of content of the Eng-lish Premier League soccer game Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers (article on page 3). We will showcase our results at different stages of the project. The first demonstra-tions are planned to be given at IBC in September 2011. In order to be kept up-to-date on the developments of the project please visit www.fascinate-project.eu or follow us on twitter "@Fascinate_Prjct".
