Constrained model predictive control: Stability and optimality

by D. Q. Mayne, J. B. Rawlings, C. V. Rao, P. O. M. Scokaert - AUTOMATICA , 2000
"... Model predictive control is a form of control in which the current control action is obtained by solving, at each sampling instant, a finite horizon open-loop optimal control problem, using the current state of the plant as the initial state; the optimization yields an optimal control sequence and t ..."

from an extensive literature essential principles that ensure stability and use these to present a concise characterization of most of the model predictive controllers that have been proposed in the literature. In some cases the finite horizon optimal control problem solved on-line is exactly

Managing Update Conflicts in Bayou, a Weakly Connected Replicated Storage System

by Douglas Terry, Marvin Theimer, Karin Petersen, Alan Demers, Mike Spreitzer, Carl Hauser - In Proceedings of the Fifteenth ACM Symposium on Operating Systems Principles , 1995
"... Bayou is a replicated, weakly consistent storage system designed for a mobile computing environment that includes portable machines with less than ideal network connectivity. To maximize availability, users can read and write any accessible replica. Bayou's design has focused on supporting apph ..."

apphcation-specific mechanisms to detect and resolve the update conflicts that naturally arise in such a system, ensuring that replicas move towards eventual consistency, and defining a protocol by which the resolution of update conflicts stabilizes. It includes novel methods for conflict detection, called

Ensuring Stability of State-dependent Riccati Equation Controllers Via Satisficing

by J. Willard Curtis, Randal W. Beard , 2002
"... Controls based on solutions to the state-dependent Riccati equation (SDRE) have been shown to offer high performance, but they suffer from unproven stability properties. This paper combines SDRE with satisficing, a novel clf-based approach which analytically guarantees stability. Essentially, the SD ..."

Ensuring Stability in Networked Systems with Nonlinear MPC for Continuous Time Systems

by Karl Worthmann
"... Abstract — For networked systems, the control law is typically subject to network flaws such as delays and packet dropouts. Hence, the time in between updates of the control law varies unexpectedly. Here, we present a stability theorem for nonlinear model predictive control with varying control hori ..."

Learning Control Lyapunov Function to Ensure Stability of Dynamical System-based Robot Reaching Motions

by S. Mohammad Khansari-zadeh, Aude Billard
"... We consider an imitation learning approach to model robot point-to-point (also known as discrete or reaching) movements with a set of autonomous Dynamical Systems (DS). Each DS model codes a behavior (such as reaching for a cup and swinging a golf club) at the kinematic level. An estimate of these D ..."

of these DS models are usually obtained from a set of demonstrations of the task. When modeling robot discrete motions with DS, ensuring stability of the learned DS is a key requirement to provide a useful policy. In this paper we propose an imitation learning approach that exploits the power of Control

by Ольховский В А , Галимова Г А , V A Olkhovskiy , Galimova G A
"... В современном мире вследствие активного развития финансовых услуг особое значение приобрета-ют платежные системы. An Integrated Congestion Management Architecture for Internet Hosts

by Hari Balakrishnan, Hariharan S. Rahul, Srinivasan Seshan - In Proc. ACM SIGCOMM , 1999
"... This paper presents a novel framework for managing network congestion from an end-to-end perspective. Our work is motivated by several trends in traffic patterns that threaten the long-term stability of the Internet. These trends include the use of multiple independent concurrent flows by Web app ..."

Ensuring Exchange Rate Stability:

Abstract. This paper shows that the recent euphoria in Malaysia to introduce Gold Dinar as money in Muslim countries is devoid of reason. Despite the destabilizing potential of the current monetary arrangements in the world, the return to gold is neither desired nor practicable. The Denarists, as some prefer to characterize the proponents, are palpably asking for the moon. It is argued here that the introduction of gold money in Muslim countries is in no way an Islamic imperative. And, if enforced, the system is likely to end in a chaotic failure. Sagacity, not emotion, must guide public policy. 1.
