Temporal Composite Actions with Constraints

by Patrick Doherty, Jonas Kvarnström, Andrzej Szałas
"... Complex mission or task specification languages play a fundamentally important role in human/robotic interaction. In realistic scenarios such as emergency response, specifying temporal, resource and other constraints on a mission is an essential component due to the dynamic and contingent nature of ..."

the syntax and semantics of a well-established formalism for reasoning about action and change, Temporal Action Logic (TAL), in order to represent temporal composite actions with constraints. Fixpoints are required to specify loops and recursion in the extended language. The results include a sound

Compositional action system refinement

by R. J. R. Back, J. Von Wright - FORMAL ASPECTS OF COMPUTING , 2003
"... We show how a parallel composition of action systems can be refined by refining the components separately, and checking noninterference against invariants and guarantee conditions, which are abstract and stable. The guarantee condition can be thought of as a very abstract specification of how a syst ..."

First, I would like to thank Dr. Dan L. Wheat for his suggestion of this topic, his willingness to listen to problems and his assistance in working through them. It was a rewarding learning experience working on this study under his supervision. Most importantly, I want to express my appreciation and love for my wife Gina for all her assistance in setting up the spreadsheets and input of the data, her help in previewing this work, and her love and support while she cared for our newborn son Colin and patiently waited while my completion goals kept slipping by. I can finally say that I am done.

Extending Action Language C+ by Formalizing Composite Actions ⋆

by Xiaoping Chen, Fangkai Yang
"... Abstract. This paper extends action language C+ by introducing composite actions as sequential execution of primitive actions. Such extension leads to a more intuitive and flexible way to represent action domains, better exploit a general-purpose formalization, and improve the reasoning efficiency f ..."

Classification of Composite Actions involving Interaction with Objects

by Rakesh Gupta, Trupti Devdas Nayak
"... We have developed a framework to recognize composite actions by training from simple interactions with objects. We start with object tracking data for the hand object interaction. We collect training data for simple actions such as pull, push, lift, drop and put. The training data consists of object ..."
