ALGORITHMS FOR THE ASSIGNMENT AND TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS

by James Munkres , 1957
"... In this paper we presen algorithms for the solution of the general assignment and transportation problems. In Section 1, a statement of the algorithm for the assignment problem appears, along with a proof for the correctness of the algorithm. The remarks which constitute the proof are incorporated p ..."

Generating Global Name-Space Communication Sets for Array Assignment Statements

by Peizong Lee, Wen-Yao Chen - Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica
"... This paper is concerned with the design of efficient algorithms for generating global name-space communication sets based on execution of array assignment statements on distributed-memory parallel computers. For general cases, although the communication sets can be represented by the union of a func ..."

Memory for a short sequence of assignment statements, part 2 of 2

by Derek M. Jones - C Vu , 2004
"... This is the second of a two part article describing an experiment carried out during the 2004 ACCU conference. The previous part was published in the previous issue of C Vu. This second part discusses how the if statement part of the problem affected subject performance. The if statement problem can ..."

Bertrand Russell, Herbrand's Theorem, and the Assignment Statement

by Melvin Fitting - AISC'98 , 1998
"... While propositional modal logic is a standard tool, first-order modal logic is not. Indeed, it is not generally understood that conventional first-order syntax is insufficiently expressible. In this paper we sketch a natural syntax and semantics for first-order modal logic, and show how it easi ..."

While propositional modal logic is a standard tool, first-order modal logic is not. Indeed, it is not generally understood that conventional first-order syntax is insufficiently expressible. In this paper we sketch a natural syntax and semantics for first-order modal logic, and show how it easily copes with well-known problems. And we provide formal tableau proof rules to go with the semantics, rules that are, at least in principle, automatable.

Using SOLO taxonomy to explore students' mental models of the programming variable and the assignment statement

by Athanassios Jimoyiannis - Themes in Science & Technology Education , 2011
"... Abstract. Introductory programming seems far from being successful at both university and high school levels. Research data already published offer significant knowledge regarding university students ’ deficiencies in computer programming and the alternative representations they built about abstract ..."

and the assignment statement. Data was collected in the form of students’ written responses to programming tasks related to short code programs. The responses were mapped to the different levels of the SOLO taxonomy. The results showed that approximately more than one half of the students in the sample tended

Dataflow Analysis of Array and Scalar References

by Paul Feautrier - International Journal of Parallel Programming , 1991
"... Given a program written in a simple imperative language (assignment statements, for loops, affine indices and loop limits), this paper presents an algorithm for analyzing the patterns along which values flow as the execution proceeds. For each array or scalar reference, the result is the name an ..."
