Non-data-aided parameter estimation in an additive white Gaussian noise channel

by Fredrik Brännström - IEEE Int. Symp. on Inform. Theory , 2005
"... Abstract — Non-data-aided (NDA) parameter estimation is considered for binary-phase-shift-keying transmission in an additive white Gaussian noise channel. Cramér-Rao lower bounds (CRLBs) for signal amplitude, noise standard deviation, channel reliability constant and bit-error rate are derived and i ..."

Power Control Schemes For Fading Additive White Gaussian Noise Channels

by Paschalis Ligdas, Nariman Farvardin
"... In this paper we propose two novel approaches to the problem of power control for fading, additive white Gaussian noise channels, with side information. The objective in the first scheme is to maximize the capacity of the channel subject to a constraint on the minimum capacity at any given state of ..."

Combined Source-Channel Coding Schemes for Video Transmission over an Additive White Gaussian Noise Channel

by M. Bystrom, J. W. Modestino - IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications , 1997
"... In recent years there has been an increased interest in the transmission of digital video over real-world transmission media, such as the direct broadcast satellite (DBS) channel. Video transmitted over such a channel is subject to degradation due, in part, to additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). S ..."

The members of the Committee appointed to examine the dissertation of LI NI find it satisfactory and recommend that it be accepted. Chair ii ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my advisor, Dr. Benjamin Belzer for his invaluable guidance and consistent support during my five years graduate study in Washington State University. Without his advice and encouragement, this dissertation would not have been possible. His broad knowledge and experience in communication theory have helped me to build a solid foundation in digital/wireless communication area, which will definitely be an asset in my future professional career. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Thomas Fischer and Dr. Ali Saberi. By sitting in their classes, I learned invaluable knowledge in information theory, data compression, signal processing, stochastic process theory and control theory. This knowledge helped me a lot in my research work. The work in this dissertation was partially supported by the National Science Foundation under grant CCR-0098357. I want to express my appreciation to NSF. Also, I want to thank Comtech AHA Corporation for the internship, where I earned invaluable industry experience. I also wish to thank the staff of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department, for their help and support. Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my parents and my family, for their love, care, patience and encouragement.

by Nor K. Noordin, Borhanuddin M. Ali, S. S. Jamuar, A. Rahman, Mahamod B. Ismail , 2004
"... Abstract. In this paper, we investigate the performance of Gray encoding M-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) schemes in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission over added white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Gray-coded QAM with 1 to 8-bit symbol corresponding to 2 to 256-Q ..."

Capacity of multi-antenna Gaussian channels

by I. Emre Telatar - EUROPEAN TRANSACTIONS ON TELECOMMUNICATIONS , 1999
"... We investigate the use of multiple transmitting and/or receiving antennas for single user communications over the additive Gaussian channel with and without fading. We derive formulas for the capacities and error exponents of such channels, and describe computational procedures to evaluate such form ..."
