Abstract. Hepatocarcinoma, a malignant cancer, threaten human life badly. It is a current issue to seek the effective natural remedy from plant to treat cancer due to the resistance of the advanced hepatocarcinoma to chemotherapy. Puerarin (Pue), a major active ingredient in the traditional Chinese medicine Gegen, has a wide range of pharmacological properties and is considered to have anti-hepatocarcinoma effects. However its low oral bioavailability restricts its wide application. In this report, Pue-nanosuspension (Pue-NS) composed of Pue and poloxamer 188 was prepared by high pressure homogenization technique. The in vitro anti-hepatocarcinoma effects of Pue-NS relative to efficacy of bulk Pue were evaluated. The particle size and zeta potential of Pue-NS were 218.5 nm and −18.8 mV, respectively. MTT assay showed that Pue-NS effectively inhibited the proliferation of HepG2 cells, and the corresponding IC50 values of Pue-NS and bulk Pue were 3.39 and 5.73 µg/ml. These results suggest that the delivery of Pue-NS is a promising approach for treating tumors.

Parallel corpora are made by human beings. However, as an MT system is an aggregation of state-of-the-art NLP technologies without any intervention of human beings, it is unavoidable that quite a few sentence pairs are beyond its analysis and that will therefore not contribute to the system. Furthermore, they in turn may act against our objectives to make the overall performance worse. Possible unfavorable items are n: m mapping objects, such as paraphrases, non-literal translations, and multiword expressions. This paper presents a pre-processing method which detects such unfavorable items before supplying them to the word aligner under the assumption that their frequency is low, such as below 5 percent. We show an improvement of Bleu score from 28.0 to 31.4 in English-Spanish and from 16.9 to 22.1 in German-English. 1

We introduce a word alignment framework that facilitates the incorporation of syntax encoded in bilingual dependency tree pairs. Our model consists of two sub-models: an anchor word alignment model which aims to find a set of high-precision anchor links and a syntaxenhanced word alignment model which focuses on aligning the remaining words relying on dependency information invoked by the acquired anchor links. We show that our syntaxenhanced word alignment approach leads to a 10.32 % and 5.57 % relative decrease in alignment error rate compared to a generative word alignment model and a syntax-proof discriminative word alignment model respectively. Furthermore, our approach is evaluated extrinsically using a phrase-based statistical machine translation system. The results show that SMT systems based on our word alignment approach tend to generate shorter outputs. Without length penalty, using our word alignments yields statistically significant improvement in Chinese–English machine translation in comparison with the baseline word alignment. 1

Sertraline, one of the oldest antidepressants, remains to be themost efficacious treatment for depression. However, major depression disorder (MDD) is characterized by altered emotion processing and deficits in cognitive control. In cognitive interference tasks, patients with MDD have shown excessive hypothalamus activity. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of antidepressant treatment (sertraline) on hypothalamus-anchored resting brain circuitry. Functional magnetic resonance imaging was conducted on depressed patients (

Abstract—This paper proposes to use Contourlet transform for image compression and feature extraction for wireless face recognition system. The properties of face images and face recognition techniques are incorporated into the design of wireless transmission for such a system. The reasons for utilizing contourlet transform are two-folded. Firstly, in face recognition, the edge information is crucial in deriving features, and the edges within a face image are not just horizontal or vertical. When the coefficients are transmitted through the fading channel, the reconstruction from the Stein-thresholded noisy coefficients by contourlet achieves less mean square error than by wavelet. Secondly, when the network resources limit the transmission of full-set coefficients, the lower band coefficients can serve as a scaled-down version of the face image, for a coarser face recognition as screening. A prioritized transmission of the coefficients take full advantage of the wireless channel. Simulation shows that the wireless face recognition system works as well as a wired one, while gaining the cost efficiency, and the flexibility in deployment. An interesting phenomenon is discovered on FERET database that when the transmission error rate is increased linearly, the recognition performance degradation is not linear; instead, the performance stays the same for a large range of error rates, which illustrates that contourlet based face recognition system can tolerate the transmission error up to some threshold. Index Terms—contourlet, face recognition, compression, wireless communication I.

Abstract: A highly sensitive method for the determination of epinephrine is proposed, which is based on the perturbation of epinephrine to a Briggs–Rau-scher oscillating system involving malonic acid, Mn2+, H+, IO3 – and H2O2 at a non-equilibrium stationary state. The concentration of KIO3 was chosen as a control parameter to find the bifurcation point in this study. The results showed that a good linear relationship between the difference in the potential and the negative logarithm of the concentrations of epinephrine existed in the range 1.1×10-7–5.2×10-9 mol L-1 with a lower detection limit of 6.8×10-10 mol L-1 and a correlation coefficient of 0.9974. Compared to the classical oscillating reaction, this method has a lower detection limit and a wider linear range. The effects of some foreign species, which may possibly exist with epinephrine, on determination were also investigated. The proposed method was successfully used to determine epinephrine both in serum and adrenaline hydrochloride injection.

Abstract. To improve the automation degree in special working environment which contains explosive gas. We develop a new type of temperature control hydraulic sensor basically on theory and lots of experiments. As the temperature reaches about 85˚C,the motion part of the inductor will stretch to a certain length, and then it will push the adjusting rod. Simultaneously, the adjusting rod will overcome the elastic force of the spring and compel the spool valve to deform, and finally the control valve port will be open, it allows the control oil of the hydraulic system to pass. At last it reaches our destination that we can make the control of hydraulic circuit be realized.
