Termination Analysis for Partial Functions
IN PROCEEDINGS OF THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL STATIC ANALYSIS SYMPOSIUM (SAS'96
, 1996
"... This paper deals with automated termination analysis for partial functional programs, i.e. for functional programs which do not terminate for each input. We present a method to determine their domains (resp. nontrivial subsets of their domains) automatically. More precisely, for each functional p ..."

Automatic Termination Analysis for Partial Functions Using Polynomial Orderings
 In Proc. 4th SAS

Labor Contracts as Partial Gift Exchange

This paper explains involuntary unemployment in terms of the response of firms to workers ' group behavior. Workers ' effort depends upon the norms determining a fair day's work. In order to affect those norms, firms may pay more than the marketclearing wage. Industries that pay consistently more than the marketclearing wage are primary, and those that pay only the marketclearing wage are secondary. Thus, this paper also gives a theory for division of labor markets between primary and secondary. I.

Performance Analysis of the IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function
, 2000
"... Recently, the IEEE has standardized the 802.11 protocol for Wireless Local Area Networks. The primary medium access control (MAC) technique of 802.11 is called distributed coordination function (DCF). DCF is a carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) scheme with binary slott ..."

slotted exponential backoff. This paper provides a simple, but nevertheless extremely accurate, analytical model to compute the 802.11 DCF throughput, in the assumption of finite number of terminals and ideal channel conditions. The proposed analysis applies to both the packet transmission schemes
Fast Planning Through Planning Graph Analysis
 ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
, 1995
"... We introduce a new approach to planning in STRIPSlike domains based on constructing and analyzing a compact structure we call a Planning Graph. We describe a new planner, Graphplan, that uses this paradigm. Graphplan always returns a shortest possible partialorder plan, or states that no valid pla ..."

In this book we aim to present, in a unified framework, a broad spectrum of mathematical theory that has grown in connection with the study of problems of optimization, equilibrium, control, and stability of linear and nonlinear systems. Greedy Function Approximation: A Gradient Boosting Machine
 Annals of Statistics
, 2000
"... Function approximation is viewed from the perspective of numerical optimization in function space, rather than parameter space. A connection is made between stagewise additive expansions and steepest{descent minimization. A general gradient{descent \boosting" paradigm is developed for additi ..."
