Throughput performance of parallel and repetition coding in incremental decode-and-forward relaying
"... Abstract The throughput performance of cooperative repetition and parallel coding in incremental decode-and-forward is investigated. Four transmission methods are considered: parallel coding with and without distributed space-time coding (PC-ST and PC, respectively); and repetition coding with and w ..."

Fading relay channels: Performance limits and space-time signal design
- IEEE J. SELECT. AREAS COMMUN
, 2004
"... Cooperative diversity is a transmission technique where multiple terminals pool their resources to form a virtual antenna array that realizes spatial diversity gain in a distributed fashion. In this paper, we examine the basic building block of cooperative diversity systems, a simple fading relay ch ..."

) or decode-and-forward (DF) modes. For each protocol, we study the ergodic and outage capacity behavior (assuming Gaussian code books) under the AF and DF modes of relaying. We analyze the spatial diversity performance of the various protocols and find that full spatial diversity (second-order in this case
Decode-and-Forward Transmission
, 711
"... This paper considers the problem of selecting a subset of nodes in a two-hop wireless network to act as relays in aiding the communication between the source-destination pair. Optimal relay subset selection with the objective of maximizing the overall throughput is a difficult problem that depends o ..."

A partial decode-and-forward strategy is applied in this paper to improve the tractability of the relay selection problem and performance of the overall network. Note that the number of relays selected ultimately determines
Spectrally Efficient Bidirectional Decode-and-Forward Relaying for Wireless Networks
, 2007

On Relay Selection for Decode-and-Forward Relaying
"... Abstract—In this letter, we consider a multi-relay network operating in decode-and-forward mode. We propose a novel relay selection method with a low implementation complexity. Unlike the competing schemes, it requires neither error detection methods at relay nodes nor feedback information at the so ..."

ExOR: Opportunistic Multi-Hop Routing for Wireless Networks
- in SIGCOMM
, 2005
"... This paper describes ExOR, an integrated routing and MAC protocol that increases the throughput of large unicast transfers in multi-hop wireless networks. ExOR chooses each hop of a packet’s route after the transmission for that hop, so that the choice can reflect which intermediate nodes actually r ..."

received the transmission. This deferred choice gives each transmission multiple opportunities to make progress. As a result ExOR can use long radio links with high loss rates, which would be avoided by traditional routing. ExOR increases a connection’s throughput while using no more network capacity than
Opportunistic Distributed Space-Time Coding for Decode-and-Forward Cooperation Systems
"... Abstract—In this paper, we consider a decode-and-forward (DF) cooperation system consisting of two cooperative users in sending their information to a common destination, for which the distributed space-time coding (DSTC) is applied in an opportunistic manner, called opportunistic DSTC (O-DSTC), dep ..."

Optimum threshold-selection relaying for decode-and-forward cooperation protocol
- in Proc. of IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC
, 2006
"... Abstract — This paper proposes a threshold-selection relaying scheme, in which each relay decides whether to forward the source information by comparing the received signal power with a decision threshold. The challenging problem is to design the threshold such that the relay is able to forward only ..."
