Applying the Design Structure Matrix to system decomposition and integration problems: a review and new directions
- IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management
"... organizations requires tools and techniques for system decompo-sition and integration. A design structure matrix (DSM) provides a simple, compact, and visual representation of a complex system that supports innovative solutions to decomposition and inte-gration problems. The advantages of DSMs vis-à ..."

This paper reviews two types of DSMs, static and time-based DSMs, and four
An Empirical Study of PHP Feature Usage: A Static Analysis Perspective, in:
- Proceedings of ISSTA’13, ACM,
, 2013
"... ABSTRACT PHP is one of the most popular languages for server-side application development. The language is highly dynamic, providing programmers with a large amount of flexibility. However, these dynamic features also have a cost, making it difficult to apply traditional static analysis techniques ..."

Static analysis on integration level
"... Abstract—Static analysis on integration level is a method of checking the usage of interfaces between software modules (function calls and global variables) without executing the software system. The interfaces are analyzed by a tool without referencing an interface specification or documented softw ..."

Static Information Flow Analysis for Java
"... Unexpected information flow can result in vulnerabilities that can compromise the security and availability of software; this can have serious financial, legal and ethical consequences. Current programming languages such as Java do not provide effective mechanisms for preventing unexpected informati ..."

information flow and it is important to develop such mechanisms and advance their usage in software practice. This paper proposes run-time information flow models, and new static information flow inference analysis. The analysis is context-sensitive, cubic, and works both on complete programs and software
Interactive publications: creation and usage
"... As envisioned here, an “interactive publication ” has similarities to multimedia documents that have been in existence for a decade or more, but possesses specific differentiating characteristics. In common usage, the latter refers to online entities that, in addition to text, consist of files of im ..."

Towards faster method search through static ecosystem analysis
"... Software developers are often unsure of the exact name of the method they need to use to invoke the desired behavior in a given context. This results in a process of searching for the correct method name in documentation, which can be lengthy and distracting to the developer. We can decrease the met ..."

In Pharo Smalltalk, methods are commonly searched for using a code browser tool called “Nautilus”, and in Java using a web browser displaying HTML based documentation – Javadoc. We developed plugins for both browsers and gathered method usage data from open source projects
Tool support for the collaboration design of reference models – a business engineering perspective
- In: Proceedings of the 39th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences 2006, IEEE
"... Abstract The central idea in reference modeling is the reutilization of the business knowledge contained in reference models for the construction of specific information models. The Reference Modeling as an Instrument of Business Engineering From Business Engineering to Business Process Manageme ..."

In both cases, a process of construction must be gone through and this process can be supported by operationalizable approaches to the creation of models. The processes of development and usage of a
Semantic Networks: A tool for . . .

The usage and sense of such terms varies between theories, and the meaning of such terms resists explication in language belonging to a different theoretical ..."

- Current Opinion in Plant Biology 7
, 2004

Abstract: Online learning initia-tives over the past decade have become increasingly comprehen-sive in their selection of courses and sophisticated in their presen-tation, culminating in the recent announcement of a number of consortium and startup activities that promise to make a university education on the internet, free of charge, a real possibility. At this pivotal moment it is appropriate to explore the potential for obtaining comprehensive bioinformatics training with currently existing free video resources. This article pre-sents such a bioinformatics curric-ulum in the form of a virtual course catalog, together with editorial commentary, and an assessment of strengths, weaknesses, and likely future directions for open online learning in this field. Online Learning Comes of Age Online academic ‘‘courseware’ ’ at the university level has now been available to the public for a decade, the earliest concerted effort having originated in 2002 with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and their OpenCour-seWare initiative
