Mai 2011 (Marcel Lucas) The popularity of Networked Virtual Environments (NVE) increased remarkably in recent years where a plethora of players participate concurrently. Traditional approaches applying the Client/Server pattern swiftly reach their limit in terms of scalability and maintainability. Hence, different approaches are based on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology. In particular, fast-paced NVEs stress these systems and most likely cause high overlay maintenance overhead. This Master’s Thesis presents a novel approach to spatial Publish/Subscribe (Pub/Sub) in P2P NVEs. The unstructured P2P system BubbleStorm offers flexible and scalable means and is therefore used as a fundamental base for the developed Pub/Sub system. Abstract Basic ideas of rough set theory were proposed by Zdzis law Pawlak [85, 86] in the early 1980’s. In the ensuing years, we have witnessed a systematic, world–wide growth of interest in rough sets and their applications. The main goal of rough set analysis is induction of approximations of con-cepts. This main goal is motivated by the basic fact, constituting also the main problem of KDD, that languages we may choose for knowledge description are incomplete. A fortiori, we have to describe concepts of interest (features, proper-ties, relations etc.) not completely but by means of their reflections (i.e. approx-imations) in the chosen language. The most important issues in this induction process are: – construction of relevant primitive concepts from which approximations of more complex concepts are assembled, – measures of inclusion and similarity (closeness) on concepts, – construction of operations producing complex concepts from the primitive ones.

Abstract: Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are two recently-developed technologies that uniquely function without xed infrastructure support, and sense at scales, resolutions, and durations previously not possible. While both offer great potential in many applications, developing software for these types of networks is extremely dffcult, preventing their wide-spread use. Three primary challenges are (1) the high level of dynamics within the network in terms of changing wireless links and node hardware con gurations, (2) the wide variety of hardware present in these networks, and (3) the extremely limited computational and energy resources available. Until now, the burden of handling these issues was put on the software application developer. This dissertation presents three novel programming models and middleware systems that address these challenges: Limone, Agilla, and Servilla. Limone reliably handles high levels of dynamics within MANETs. It does this through lightweight coordination primitives that make minimal assumptions about network connectivity. Agilla enables self-adaptive WSN applications via the integration of mobile agent and tuple space programming models, which is critical given the continuously changing network.
