Training Centre of the United Nations University (UNU). It is based in Macao, and was founded in 1991. It started operations in July 1992. UNU-IIST is jointly funded by the government of Macao and the governments of the People’s Republic of China and Portugal through a contribution to the UNU Endowment Fund. As well as providing two-thirds of the endowment fund, the Macao authorities also supply UNU-IIST with its office premises and furniture and subsidise fellow accommodation. The mission of UNU-IIST is to assist developing countries in the application and development of software technology. UNU-IIST contributes through its programmatic activities: 1. Advanced development projects, in which software techniques supported by tools are applied, 2. Research projects, in which new techniques for software development are investigated, 3. Curriculum development projects, in which courses of software technology for universities in developing countries are developed, 4. University development projects, which complement the curriculum development projects by aiming to strengthen all aspects of computer science teaching in universities in developing countries, 5. Schools and Courses, which typically teach advanced software development techniques,

GUI Interaction Testing: Incorporating Event Context

by Xun Yuan, Myra B. Cohen, Atif M Memon , 2011
"... Graphical user interfaces (GUIs), due to their event driven nature, present an enormous and potentially unbounded way for users to interact with software. During testing it is important to “adequately cover ” this interaction space. In this paper, we develop a new family of coverage criteria for GU ..."

for GUI testing grounded in combinatorial interaction testing. The key motivation of using combinatorial techniques is that they enable us to incorporate “context” into the criteria in terms of event combinations, sequence length, and by including all possible positions for each event. Our new criteria

A GUI Environment to Manipulate FSMs for Testing GUI-based Applications in Java

by unknown authors
"... The development of GUI-based applications has raised a lot of new issues, one of them being how to effectively test complicated graphical user interactions. In this paper, we present a visual environment for manipulating test specifications of GUI-based applications in Java. In our approach, the int ..."

, the internal representation of a test specification, which contains the contexts of GUI input and output, is generated interactively by running the Application Under Test (AUT). In this way, existing testing tools, such as tools for test case generation, can possibly be applied on it. We provide a graphical

Development of GUI Test Coverage Analysis and Enforcement Tools

by Ricardo Daniel, Ferreira Ferreira, Ricardo Daniel, Ferreira Ferreira , 2009
"... Software applications are becoming more and more important in today's society. From them depends the functioning of critical systems in several areas. To interact with these systems were developed graphical user interfaces (GUIs). These interfaces are more attractive to the user allowing to use ..."

. There are several approaches for GUI testing. Model-based testing is the one that offers more advantages in automatic test case generation and execution. This technique requires the definition of an abstract model of the system under test (SUT), from which test cases can be

SCENE-BASED AUTOMATIC IMAGE ANNOTATION

by Amara Tariq, Hassan Foroosh
"... Image search and retrieval systems depend heavily on avail-ability of descriptive textual annotations with images, to match them with textual queries of users. In most cases, such systems have to rely on users to provide tags or keywords with images. Users may add insufficient or noisy tags. A syste ..."

by incorporating contextual information provided by scene analysis of image. Image can be represented by features which indicate type of scene shown in the image, instead of representing individual objects or local characteristics of that image. We have used such features to provide context in the process

Towards Dynamic Adaptive Automated Test Generation for Graphical User Interfaces

by Xun Yuan, Myra B. Cohen, Atif M. Memon - in International Conference on Software Testing, Verification, and Validation Workshops, Washington D.C., 2009
"... Graphical user interfaces (GUIs) present an enor-mous number of potential event sequences to users. During testing it is necessary to cover this space, how-ever the complexity of modern GUIs has made this an increasingly difficult task. Our past work has demon-strated that it is important to incorpo ..."

to incorporate “context” into GUI test cases, in terms of event combinations, event sequence length, and by considering all possible starting and ending positions for each event. Despite the use of our most refined modeling techniques, many of the generated test cases remain unexecutable. In this paper, we posit

Incorporating Coverage Criteria in Bounded Exhaustive Black Box Test Generation of Structural Inputs

by Nazareno M. Aguirre, Valeria S. Bengolea, Marcelo F. Frias, P. Galeotti
"... Abstract. The automated generation of test cases for heap allocated, complex, structures is particularly difficult. Various state of the art tools tackle this problem by bounded exhaustive exploration of potential test cases, using constraint solving mechanisms based on techniques such as search, mo ..."

illustrating its performance for some black box testing criteria. The experimental results associated with these case studies are shown in the context of Korat, a state of the art tool for constraint based test case generation, but the approach is applicable in other contexts using a filtering approach to test

Towards deploying model-based testing with a domain-specific modeling approach

by Mika Katara, Antti Kervinen, Mika Maunumaa, Tuula Pääkkönen, Mikko Satama - In Proceedings of TAIC PART – Testing: Academic & Industrial Conference , 2006
"... Model-based testing automating the generation of test cases is technically superior to conventional scripted testing. However, there have been difficulties in deploying the methodology in large scale industrial context. In this paper we present a domain-specific approach to model-based GUI testing t ..."

Title of Document: A CONTEXT-SENSITIVE COVERAGE CRITERION FOR TEST SUITE REDUCTION

by Scott David Mcmaster, Doctor Of Philosophy , 2008

Modern software is increasingly developed using multi-language implementations, large supporting libraries and frameworks, callbacks, virtual function calls, reflection, multithreading, and object- and aspect-oriented programming. The predominant example of such software is the graphical user interf ..."

Because recently developed techniques for automated test case generation can generate more tests than are practical

Simulations on Consumer Tests: A Systematic Evaluation Approach in an Industrial Case Study

by Andre ́ Leschke, Dimitri Plotnikov, Bernhard Rumpe
"... Abstract—Context: Consumer tests for vehicles have long a tradition of almost two decades in Europe to assess vehicular safety abilities. For active safety systems like an emergency braking guard, different consumer-test-organizations (CTOs) around the world intensify now the challenges for automoti ..."
