Multi-stage Annotation using Pattern-based and Statistical-based Techniques for Automatic Thai Annotated Corpus Construction

by Nattapong Tongtep, Thanaruk Theeramunkong
"... An automated or semi-automated annotation is a practical solution towards largescale corpus construction. However, special characteristics of Thai language, such as lack of word-boundary and sentenceboundary markers trigger several issues in automatic corpus annotation. This paper presents a multi-s ..."

Later segmenting a sequence of characters into words, the chunks are tagged according to the order of ambiguity, using dictionary, pattern and statistics. Focusing

A CLASSIFICATION TREE APPROACH TO AUTOMATIC SEGMENTATION OF JAPANESE COMPOUND SENTENCES

by Yujie Zhang, Kazuhiko Ozeki
"... It is well known that direct parsing of a long Japanese compound sentence is extremely difficult. Various pre-processing methods have been proposed to segment such a sentence into shorter, simpler ones prior to parsing. The problem with the conventional methods is that some kind of segmentation patt ..."

patterns or heuristic preference scores must be given manually, hence no guarantee for optimality. This paper proposes a new method of sentence segmentation based on a classification tree technique. In this method, optimal segmentation patterns and the optimal order of their application are automatically

Speculative Requirements: Automatic Detection of Uncertainty in Natural Language Requirements

by Hui Yang, Anne De Roeck, Vincenzo Gervasi, Alistair Willis, Bashar Nuseibeh
"... Abstract—Stakeholders frequently use speculative language when they need to convey their requirements with some degree of uncertainty. Due to the intrinsic vagueness of speculative language, speculative requirements risk being misunderstood, and related uncertainty overlooked, and may benefit from c ..."

Abstract Supporting database schema evolution repre-sents a long-standing challenge of practical and theoretical importance for modern information systems. In this paper, we describe techniques and systems for automating the critical tasks of migrating the database and rewriting the legacy applications. In addition to labor saving, the ben-efits delivered by these advances are many and include reliable prediction of outcome, minimization of downtime, system-produced documentation, and support for archiving, historical queries, and provenance. The PRISM/PRISM++ system delivers these benefits, by solving the difficult prob-lem of automating the migration of databases and the rewrit-ing of queries and updates. In this paper, we present the PRISM/PRISM++ system and the novel technology that made it possible. In particular, we focus on the difficult and previously unsolved problem of supporting legacy queries and updates under schema and integrity constraints evolution. The PRISM/PRISM++ approach consists in providing the users with a set of SQL-based Schema Modification Opera-tors (SMOs), which describe how the tables in the old schema are modified into those in the new schema. In order to sup-port updates, SMOs are extended with integrity constraints

Insomnia: Conceptual issues in the development, persistence, and treatment of sleep disorder in adults.
