Table 2. Summary table of contents of the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis Core Curriculum in GIScience. Section Topic Unit themes
"... In PAGE 4: ... The CoreCurriculumoftheNationalCenterforGeographicInfor- mation and Analysis (NCGIA) exemplifies this archetype (see NCGIA 1998, or refer to Kemp and Goodchild 1991, 1992). Originally published in 1990, the current version consists of nearly 200 topic units, each written by prominent GIS scholars from across the world, covering the substantive foundations of GIS as both a science and a technology (see Table2 ). The Core Curriculum now represents the de facto standard of the model curricula approach, and although others have produced similar models, most exist as alternatives or complements to the NCGIA Core (see Nyerges and Chrisman 1989; Unwin et al.... ..."

Table 1 has to be filled out by each of the individuals under study. All activities taking place in the period of time under observation have to be registered. In order to facilitate this task, authors in TG provide standard lists on activities, functional places and transportation modes. Today most of these lists are adapted from classifications established by United Nations Statistics Division (www.un.org.Depts/unsd/timeuse/icatus/icatus_3_1.htm). Not only ad hoc collected data can be represented as lifelines but also any data that contains ID, location, time and activity, such as transportation timetables, emergency services dispatch records and other existing temporal datasets.

Table 1. National Monitoring Systems for Violence
"... In PAGE 16: ... The cornerstone of any type of monitoring system is the use of a definition for the event that you seek to identify. Several definitions of violence have been applied in the literature, in monitoring systems ( Table1 ), and amongst institutions in Pennsylvania. These include definitions from a criminal justice perspective, a domestic violence perspective, a medical perspective, and a sociological perspective, amongst others.... In PAGE 42: ... Miller, et.al. (15), suggests that the higher cost figure is due to a higher estimate for the number of rapes in the NWS, and the application of a higher average cost per incident (Table 17). The bulk of the costs related to rape are accounted for by the value associated with intangible items, such as pain and suffering arising from the crime, and a diminished quality of life ( Table1 7). Medical care costs (including mental health care costs) comprise a small proportion of the total cost.... In PAGE 57: ...
