The natural radiations present at geostationary orbit are the galactic cosmic rays, geomagnetically trapped radiation, and solar cosmic rays. The low-level galactic cosmic rays are important for careers spending a year or more at geostationary altitude. The trapped radiation undergoes large fluctuations and will on occasion require interruption of extravehicular activity (EVA). The space-suit shield requirements are strongly affected by the number of interruptions allowed. EVA cannot proceed during a large solar event and maximum allowable doses are exceeded in a few hours unless a heavily shielded area is provided. A shelter of 10 g/cm2 with personal shielding for the eyes and testes would contain exposure to within the presently accepted exposure constraints. Since radi-ation levels can increase unexpectedly to serious levels, an onboard radiation monitoring system with rate and integration capabilities

Objective: To re-examine and refine estimates for alcohol-related relative risk of driver involvement in fatal crashes by age and sex as a function of BAC using recent data. Methods: Logistic regression was used to estimate age/sex specific relative risk of fatal crash involvement as a function of the BAC of fatally injured and surviving drivers by combining crash data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System with exposure data from the 1996 National Roadside Survey of Drivers. Results: In general, the relative risk of involvement in a fatal passenger vehicle crash increased steadily with increasing driver BAC in every age/sex group among both fatally injured and surviving drivers. A 0.02 percentage point BAC increase among 16-20 year old male drivers was estimated to more than double the relative risk of fatal single vehicle crash injury. At the midpoint of the 0.08 %- 0.10 % BAC range, the relative risk of a fatal single-vehicle crash injury varied between 11.4 (drivers 35 and older) and 51.9 (male drivers, 16-20). With only very few exceptions, older drivers had lower risk of being fatally injured in a single vehicle crash than younger drivers, and females than males in the same age range. When comparable, results largely confirmed existing prior estimates.

"Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 mad1e commter air carriers eligible for Gov'rmn gurateed loans for the purchase of aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration is charged with responsibility for adinistering the program. As an aid to determining commruter eligibility for guarantees and because publicly available financial data on commuters is very limited, it was necessary to assemble information from a number of sources such as the (divil Aeronautics Board, State Aviation Ccaruiss ions, and interviews with olmmuter managemnt and loan of fexrs of financial institutions.. Data and information are provided concerning (1) purchase price and operating osets of comater type aircraft (2) current aircraft acquisition practices, typical loan terms and historical financial performance (3) current credit-worthiness standards established by the financial commiunity and (4) financial viability and ability of commuters to meet those standards. 17. Multi-leader-follower games arise when modeling competition between two or more dominant firms and lead in a natural way to equilibrium problems with equilibrium constraints (EPECs). We examine a variety of nonlinear optimization and nonlinear complementarity formulations of EPECs. We distinguish two broad cases: problems where the leaders can cost-differentiate and problems with price-consistent followers. We demonstrate the practical viability of our approach by solving a range of medium-sized test problems.
