A Dual Representation of Uncertain Dynamic Spatial Information
"... Abstract. In this contribution a dual representation of spatio-temporal phenomena whose observation is affected by uncertainty is proposed in the context of fuzzy set and possibility theory. The concept of fuzzy time validity of a snapshot of a dynamic phenomenon is introduced as well as the concept ..."

INVARIANT RINGS AND DUAL REPRESENTATIONS OF DIHEDRAL GROUPS
, 2008
"... Abstract. The Weyl group of a compact connected Lie group is a reflec-tion group. If such Lie groups are locally isomorphic, the representations of the Weyl groups are rationally equivalent. They need not however be equivalent as integral representations. Turning to the invariant the-ory, the ration ..."

be equivalent as Z-representations. For instance, the integral representation of W (PU(n)) is not equivalent to that of W (SU(n)). LetW (G) ∗ denote the dual representation ofW (G). Then we seeW (PU(n)) = W (SU(n)) ∗ [11]. Turning to the rings of invariants, for the cohomology of classifying spaces BG
Dual representation and young children’s use of scale models.
- Child Development,
, 2000
"... To use a symbolic object such as a model, map, or picture, one must achieve dual representation; that is, one must mentally represent both the symbol itself and its relation to its referent. The studies reported here confirm predictions derived from this concept. As hypothesized, dual representatio ..."

Indexing Constraint Databases by Using a Dual Representation
- PROC. INT. CONF. DATA ENGINEERING
, 1999
"... Linear constraint databases are a powerful framework to model spatial and temporal data. The use of constraint databases should be supported by access data structures that make effective use of secondary storage and reduce query processing time. Such structures should be able to store both finite an ..."

PRIMAL AND DUAL REPRESENTATIONS OF THE ERROR IN SUMMATION MONETARY AGGREGATES
, 2001
"... Abstract: We provide primal and dual representations for the tracking error in the official monetary aggregates published by the Federal Reserve System from the standpoint of monetary aggregation theory. We show that the tracking error will be zero if either all asset stocks or their prices change p ..."

Understanding Normal and Impaired Word Reading: Computational Principles in Quasi-Regular Domains
- PSYCHOLOGICAL REVIEW
, 1996
"... We develop a connectionist approach to processing in quasi-regular domains, as exemplified by English word reading. A consideration of the shortcomings of a previous implementation (Seidenberg & McClelland, 1989, Psych. Rev.) in reading nonwords leads to the development of orthographic and phono ..."

and phonological representations that capture better the relevant structure among the written and spoken forms of words. In a number of simulation experiments, networks using the new representations learn to read both regular and exception words, including low-frequency exception words, and yet are still able

It is well known that any non-binary CSP can be reformulated as a binary CSP. In this paper we show that the same translation methods can be applied in the soft constraints framework. We observe that any non-binary soft constraint CSP can be reformulated as a problem with only binary and unary constraints. Interestingly, the translation leads to binary constraints that are hard (define conditions of mandatory satisfaction) and unary constraints that are soft (define a preference criterion among the set of solutions). We elaborate our observation in the semiringbased framework.
MatrixExplorer: a Dual-Representation System to Explore Social Networks
- IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON VISUALIZATION AND COMPUTER GRAPHICS
, 2006

Its design comes from a list of requirements formalized after several interviews and a participatory design session conducted with social science researchers. Although matrices are comm ..."
