Abstract

Bodyscan, a transputer based 3D image analysis workbench, is a large and complex piece of occam code. This document focuses on the contrasting types of data parallelism which are available in the various algorithmic subcomponents of the Bodyscan package by considering the data spaces they operate upon. Software design issues arising from these considerations are then followed by a description of the the distributed data structures which are required to support the decompositions of the various spaces. Finally the efficiency of decomposition of the primary image space is detailed. 1 Introduction Bodyscan is a general purpose transputer based 3D image analysis and visualisation workbench, with a wide range of image processing tools which aid effective image analysis.
