Abstract
The designations employed and the presentation of the material in this publication do not imply the expression of any opinion on the part of the Secretariat of the United Nations concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries. The designations “developed ” and “developing ” countries are intended for statistical convenience and do not necessarily express a judgment about the stage reached by a particular country or area in the development process. The designations “countries with economies in transition ” and “countries with established market economies ” do not express a judgment about the political system prevailing in the concerned countries or areas. The term “country ” as used in the text of this publication also refers, in particular instances, to territories or areas.
