Abstract:
this paper, we pursue an alternative approach, using the primitive of c-command. We believe that this approach has a number of significant empirical and conceptual advantages. We attempt to provide a preliminary demonstration of some of these advantages. Before doing so, however, we first turn to a review of a number of domination-based parsing models, considering their strengths and weaknesses.
