Abstract
This paper is a revised version of a manuscript we circulated under the title "On the Interaction of Modals, Quantifiers, and If -Clauses". One part of that ancestral paper has now become a stand-alone work entitled "If and When If -Clauses Can Restrict Quantifiers". Material from this paper has been presented at colloquia at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, at the University of Arizona, and at the University of Connecticut, at the GLOW conference in Braga, Portugal, and at Sinn und Bedeutung 7 in Konstanz, Germany.
