Among civilian communication systems, vehicular networks emerge as one of the most convincing and yet most challenging instantiations of the mobile ad hoc networking technology. Towards the deployment of vehicular communication systems, security and privacy are critical factors and significant challenges to be met. Thanks to the substantial research efforts carried out by the community so far, we make the following contributions in this paper: we outline security requirements for vehicular communication systems, we provide models for the system and the communication, as well as models for the adversaries, and propose a set of design principles for future security and privacy solutions for vehicular communication systems.

Abstract—We present a symbolic model checking algorithm for verification of Nash equilibria in finite state mechanisms modeling Multiple Administrative Domains (MAD) distributed systems. Given a finite state mechanism, a proposed protocol for each agent and an indifference threshold for rewards, our model checker returns PASS if the proposed protocol is a Nash equilibrium (up to the given indifference threshold) for the given mechanism, FAIL otherwise. We implemented our model checking algorithm inside the NuSMV model checker and present experimental results showing its effectiveness for moderate size mechanisms. I.

This paper shows that existing privacy enhancing technologies and the state-of-the-art in research on the
privacy protection has grew to a considerable maturity up
to date, yet privacy protection regulation disregards these
advancements and remains in vague terms.Contemporary
social situation with regards to privacy protection entails
serious arguments why this disparity should rather soon
be overcome. It is further shown how this disparity could
be overcome by a collection of privacy protection patterns
which include technical solutions as well as social models and can be combined into a systemic privacy protection
framework that could be declared on the level of regulation
itself in much more detailed and concrete terms than today.

The field of adaptable communication networks is a rich application area for artificial intelligence technology. Recent developments in software defined radio technology have created the opportunity to develop networks that are, in principle, highly adaptable and effective under a much wider range of operating conditions than currently possible, but few researchers are addressing the issue of how to take advantage of this new flexibility. This paper briefly discusses some of the Artificial Intelligence techniques that can and have been be leveraged in this domain. Categories and Subject Descriptors
