Since the number of wavelengths per ber is growing in an exponential fashion the over- ow trac can be routed through overow lightpaths, thus providing an ideal network with near-in nite capacity and almost no-buering. Such unprecedented bandwidth growth in the network backbone is only limited by the processing speed of the electronic elements. Even though multiple parallel high-speed channels (lightpaths) are provided between IP routers the switching speed of the latter is an order of magnitude below the lightpath transmission speed.

Most people cannot access the World Wide Web (WWW) and other Internet services because access requires a complex and expensive computer. Moreover, the bandwidth offered to the general public is mostly limited by today's analog modems through standard telephone lines. An inexpensive, easy-to-use Internet/WWW access service, able to handle bandwidth-intensive, multimedia-oriented WWW pages, is currently not available to the general public.

The problem of maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) of exponentials in signal-dependent noise is addressed as well as a methodology to attack the problem. Estimation of exponentials has a long history, but much of the research is aimed at the stationary noise case. Signal-dependent noise can arise in a variety of circumstances, however, e.g. magnetic and optical recording. A general signal model, log-likelihood function, and Cramer-Rao lower bounds (CRB) are developed for the signaldependent noise case. A methodology splits the MLE problem into linear transformations, coarse search, localized search, and quality metric phases. An additional CRB derivation is used to assess the linear transforms for the estimation problem. Classical and multi-layer perceptron artificial ...

An important QoS factor for wireless network planning is delay. We should provide enough resources (bandwidth) for conveying the traffic load. Next generation wireless networks is going to be an all IP network. In this path, voice will be changed to packet. In this paper we introduce a queuing model and a radio resource management algorithm which maximize the system throughput (users), then compute their delays and show this delay is less than the mentioned delay in the 3GPP standards. 1.
