Abstract: We show that the homotopy theory of differential graded algebras coincides with the homotopy theory of HZalgebra spectra. Namely, we construct Quillen equivalences between the Quillen model categories of (unbounded) differential graded algebras and HZalgebra spectra. We also construct Quillen equivalences between the differential graded modules and module spectra over these algebras. We use these equivalences in turn to produce algebraic models for rational stable model categories. We show that bascially any rational stable model category is Quillen equivalent to modules over a differential graded Qalgebra (with many objects). 1.

We construct localization cofiber sequences for the topological Hochschild homology (THH) and topological cyclic homology (TC) of spectral categories. Using a “global ” construction of the THH and TC of a scheme in terms of the perfect complexes in a spectrally enriched version of the category of unbounded complexes, the sequences specialize to localization cofiber sequences associated to the inclusion of an open subscheme. These are the targets of the cyclotomic trace from the localization sequence of ThomasonTrobaugh in Ktheory. We also deduce versions of Thomason’s blowup formula and the projective bundle formula for THH and TC.

Abstract. Homotopy limits and colimits are homotopical replacements for the usual limits and colimits of category theory, which can be approached either using classical explicit constructions or the modern abstract machinery of derived functors. Our first goal is to explain both and show their equivalence. Our second goal is to generalize this result to enriched categories and homotopy weighted limits, showing that the classical explicit constructions still give the right answer in the abstract sense, thus partially bridging the gap between classical homotopy theory and modern abstract homotopy theory. To do this we introduce a notion of “enriched homotopical categories”, which are more general than enriched model categories, but are still a good place to do enriched homotopy theory. This demonstrates that the presence of enrichment often simplifies rather than complicates matters, and goes some way toward achieving a better understanding of “the role of homotopy in homotopy theory.” Contents
Topological equivalences for differential graded algebras

Abstract. We investigate the relationship between differential graded algebras (dgas) and topological ring spectra. Every dga C gives rise to an EilenbergMac Lane ring spectrum denoted HC. If HC and HD are weakly equivalent, then we say C and D are topologically equivalent. Quasiisomorphic dgas are topologically equivalent, but we produce explicit counterexamples of the converse. We also develop an associated notion of topological Morita equivalence using a homotopical version of tilting. Contents

Abstract. We construct a Quillen model structure on the category of spectral categories, where the weak equivalences are the symmetric spectra analogue of the notion of equivalence of categories. Following Toën’s work on DG categories, we describe the mapping space between two spectral categories A and B in terms of the nerve of a certain category of ABbimodules, and show that the homotopy category of spectral categories obtained admits internal Hom’s relative to the derived smash product. As an application, we obtain a simple conceptual characterization of topological

The paper gives a new proof that the model categories of stable modules for the rings Z=p 2 and Z=pΠ=. 2 / are not Quillen equivalent. The proof uses homotopy endomorphism ring spectra. Our considerations lead to an example of two differential graded algebras which are derived equivalent but whose associated model categories of modules are not Quillen equivalent.
