A model of web annoyance coping was constructed based on the Cognitive-Motivational-Relational Theory of Emotion. The proposed model predicts that web users would cope with annoyances through both problem- and emotion-focused strategies. In two focus groups, participants identified nuisances encountered during use of the two websites (Facebook and MySlice), and their reactions to the nuisances as coping strategies. The findings include a web nuisance categorization and empirical evidence to support the proposed model of web annoyance coping. Besides filling a gap in the literature and providing theoretical contributions, the study has practical implications to website designers, marketers and other stakeholders.

Despite the compelling evidence linking complaint handling to subsequent purchase behaviour, relatively little progress has been made in developing a theoretical understanding of how consumers evaluate a company‘s response to their complaints. One construct that has shown promise in explaining individuals ’ reactions to a variety of conflict situations is perceived justice. This theoretical perspective suggests that the fairness of the resolution procedures, the interactional communications and behaviour, and the outcome are the principal evaluative criteria of the customer. Using perceived justice theory as a conceptual foundation, the current research develops and tests a model that explains (1) how customers evaluate a company‘s response to their complaints and (2) how these evaluations affect customer satisfaction and post-purchase behaviour. Primary data were collected through a structured-undisguised electronic questionnaire. Care was taken to choose a research setting that would be appropriate for complaint handling research. Specifically, travel & tourism services were chosen since their processes offer multiple opportunities for service failure to occur.

Considering the importance that stress has in the armed forces, it is necessary to study those factors that reduce the probability of apparition of it. From the prevention point of view, the studies show different factors that can reduce the negative impact of this phenomenon (Distress). Among these factors, morale plays a fundamental role. Since Spain began in 1988 its participation in operations of peace and human aid, by mandate of the UN, to our days, we can verify the increase of the same and the importance that in them has the role of the psychologist reflected in the memories of the units of psychology unfolded in the operation zones. Given the extensive investigation of this phenomenon in the sanitary and educational environments, we intend, through a retrospective study, to determine as morale is constituted like a protection factor that could come to reduce the first symptoms of the labor stress in military units. We propose a new model based on the positive psychology principles, to be developed during the peacekeeping operations. As many other countries, Spain is currently involved in a number of international missions – Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Haiti, etc.

John Henryism (JH) has been used to describe prolonged high-effort coping behaviors in response to psychological distress. JH has also been associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease amongst populations of low socioeconomic status (SES).The objective of this study is to examine the role of the JH-SES dynamic in mental health status and substance use. For this protocol 207 college students at a large urban Midwestern university completed a series of online surveys which assessed various psychosocial coping factors and alcohol use (frequency and amount of use over the past week). The coping and health behavior survey includes the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), a non-diagnostic 20 item inventory which evaluates aspects of depressive symptomology. The John Henryism Active Coping-12 (JHAC-12) scale assesses the level of engagement used to resolve and recover from psychological stressors. Through secondary analysis it is expected that high JH in addition to low-SES may increase levels of depression and alcohol intake amongst college students. Higher levels of JH in addition to low-SES may accompany maladaptive coping strategies such as increased alcohol consumption and elevated levels of depressive symptoms. This association could help to gain a better understanding of maladaptive coping and its impact on health and adjustment, therefore enhancing wellness and stress management amongst college students.

Organizations increasingly rely on complex information systems (IS) to preserve and enhance competitive advantage. Prior work has shown that these IS are often underutilized, prompting researchers and practitioners to seek out better explanations to account for IS use behaviors. Coping theory has recently emerged as a promising foundation for understanding users ’ post-adoptive reactions to IS. This paper takes a first step toward integrating theories of IS adoption and use with coping theory by examining how adoption-related IS perceptions influence individual-level postadoptive IS appraisal. Survey data collected from IS users at a university health center indicate that performance and effort expectancies surrounding use of the IS strongly influence primary IS appraisal (judgments of what is at stake as a result of the IS), while the presence of facilitating conditions relates to secondary IS appraisal (judgments of what can be done in response to the IS).
