We study the fuzzy or noncommutative Dpbranes in terms of infinitely many unstable D0branes, from which we can construct any Dpbranes. We show that the tachyon condensation of the unstable D0branes induces the noncommutativity. In the infinite tachyon condensation limit, most of the unstable D0branes disappear and remaining D0branes are actually the BPS D0branes with the correct noncommutative coordinates. For the fuzzy S 2 case, we explicitly show only the D0branes corresponding to the lowest Landau level survive in the limit. We also show that a boundary state for a Dpbrane satisfying the Dirichlet boundary condition on a curved submanifold embedded in the flat space is not localized on the submanifold. This implies that the Dpbrane on it is ambiguous at the string scale and solves the problem for a spherical D2brane with a unit flux on the world volume which should be equivalent to one D0brane. It has been shown that D0Dp (p = 2, 4, 6, 8) systems can be BPS in the presence of Bfield even if they are not without Bfield. We discuss the number of remaining supersymmetry for these systems and examine ground state spectrum in the string picture. We then construct the D0Dp systems as solitonic solutions in the noncommutative super YangMills theory and derive the complete mass spectrum of the fluctuations to discuss the stability of the systems. The results are found to agree with the analysis in the string picture. In particular, we show that supersymmetry is enhanced in D0D8 depending on the Bfields and it is consistent with the degeneracy of mass spectrum. We also derive potentials and discuss their implications for these systems.

We construct 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 BPS solutions spanned by diagonal elements of U(N) constant fluxes in the 6+1 dimensional U(N) super YangMills theory on T 6 with topological stability. These solutions represent BPS bound states of D0, D2, D4, and D6 branes. The consistency with the Dbrane charge conservation implies that unstable D0D2D6brane systems in a B field decay to the BPS solutions, in which lower dimensional Dbranes are dissolved in D6branes. 1

We consider a topological quiver matrix model which is expected to give a dual description of the instanton dynamics of topological U(N) gauge theory on D6 branes. The model is a higher dimensional analogue of the ADHM matrix model that leads to Nekrasov’s partition function. The fixed points of the toric action on the moduli space are labeled by colored plane partitions. Assuming the localization theorem, we compute the partition function as an equivariant index. It turns out that the partition function does not depend on the vacuum expectation values of Higgs fields that break U(N) symmetry to U(1) N at low energy. We conjecture a general formula of the partition function, which reduces to a power of the MacMahon function, if we impose the CalabiYau condition. For non CalabiDuring the recent developments in the nonperturbative dynamics of supersymmetric gauge/string theories, we have witnessed many examples of the topological partition function which are exactly computable. We construct some classes of instanton solutions of eight dimensional noncommutative ADHM equations generalizing the solutions of eight dimensional commutative ADHM equations found by Papadopoulos and Teschendorff, and interpret them as supersymmetric D0D8 bound states in a NS Bfield. Especially, we consider the D0D8 system with antiselfdual Bfield preserving 3/16 of supercharges. This system and selfduality conditions are related with the group Sp(2) which is a subgroup of the eight dimensional rotation group SO(8).

We study the 1/4 BPS equations in the eight dimensional noncommutative YangMills theory found by Bak, Lee and Park. We explicitly construct some solutions of the 1/4 BPS equations using the noncommutative version of the ADHMlike construction in eight dimensions. We study the noncommutative version of the extended ADHM construction in the eight dimensional U(1) YangMills theory. This construction gives rise to the solutions of the BPS equations in the YangMills theory, and these solutions preserve at least 3/16 of supersymmetries. In a wide subspace of the extended ADHM data, we show that the integer k which appears in the extended ADHM construction should be interpreted as the D4brane charge rather than the D0brane charge by explicitly calculating the topological charges in the case that the noncommutativity parameter is antiselfdual. We also find the relationship with the solution generating technique and show that the integer k can be interpreted as the charge of the D0brane bound to the D8brane with Noncommutative geometry has played an important role in the study of string/Mtheory [1]. In particular, Dbranes with a constant NS Bfield are of interest in the context of understanding the nonperturbative aspects of string theory. We analyze certain brane bound states in Mtheory and their descendants in type IIA string theory, all involving 3form or 2form background fluxes. Among them are configurations which represent NCYM, NCOS and ODptheories in the scaling limit of OMtheory. In particular, we show how the conditions for the embedding to preserve supersymmetry are modified by the presence of the flux and discuss their relations for the various different bound states. Via the formalism of geometric quantization such a deformation of a supersymmetric cycle is related to a noncommutativity of its coordinates. We also study possible noncommutative deformations of the SeibergWitten curve of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories due to nontrivial Hflux. ∗1

We investigate the Dbrane bound states from the viewpoint of the unstable D/Dsystem and their tachyon condensation. We show the equivalence between a kD(−1)ND3 bound state with open strings connecting them and a system of ND3branes with open strings corresponding to the kinstanton flux. Both systems are realized in (N + 2k)D3branes and 2kD3branes with appropriate tachyon profiles and the equivalence is obtained from a unitary gauge transformation of the D3/D3system. As a corollary of this result, the ADHM construction of gauge instantons is an outcome of this gauge equivalence. The small instanton singularities can be also understood in this context. Other kinds of solitons with different codimensions are also discussed from the view point of the tachyon condensation. 1
