It is often stated that sensing based opportunistic spectrum sharing requires several tens of sensors or infrastructure support to achieve a reliable Primary User (PU) detection. This is considered a significant entry barrier for opportunistic, sensing based Cognitive Radio (CR) networks. In this paper we suggest an approach making deployment of small configurations of such networks feasible without the need of infrastructure sensing support and discuss the resulting strategy of gradual deployment of such CR networks.
