Abstract—Classroom interactivity is a critical component of teaching and learning. This paper reports on the use of a classroom response system to enhance classroom interactivity in a systems analysis and design course. The success of the project was assessed using both quantitative and qualitative data. A pretest/posttest design was used to examine the effects of a classroom response system on interactivity. The results show that a classroom re-sponse system can significantly improve classroom interactivity. Qualitative data was also collected to identify the strengths and weaknesses of using a classroom response system to enhance classroom interaction. Based on the quantitative and qualitative results, suggestions and guidelines on using a classroom response system in the classroom settings are discussed. Index Terms—Classroom interactivity, classroom response system, interactivity instrument, mobile education, mobile and wireless technology. I.

With the evolution of the mobile platform and the rapid adoption of mobile devices such as cell phones and other handheld devices,, social networks, which began as web-based applications, have migrated onto the mobile platform. This paper focuses on the development of these networks and how users of these networks have become a prime source of innovation on the mobile platform. Mobile social networks are the impetus for the creation of an entirely new sub-industry in the wireless sector, thus representing a new aspect of wireless innovation, and increasingly are providing a platform for content and technological innovation in the business environment. The paper discusses the implications of mobile social networks for the wireless sector, content providers, technology companies, and the users of the mobile platform. A case study on Dodgeball, a New York City based mobile social networking company, is presented to exemplify usercentric innovation on the mobile platform. 1.

Abstract: The information systems (IS) project management profession has been faced with numerous socio-technical challenges. As part of its analysis, research has expressed discontent with the traditional measures used to assess the success or failure of these projects, i.e. conformance to time, schedule and specification requirements espoused by the project management (PM) standard bodies. Despite this, research has also revealed that industry continues to place high reliance on this approach in determining the outcome of their projects. These developments imply, in part, a misalignment between research and practice and a scarcity of appropriate measurement tools that are aligned to the realities of different project contexts. The research presents a Project Objectives Measurement Model (POMM) that attempts to address some of these concerns through the development of project measures that are aligned to key project stakeholders ’ values and objectives within the unique project contexts. It is argued that objectives are the key performance criteria of the project hence measures must be aligned to these criteria and formal procedures should be in place to assure that these objectives and measures are carefully developed and reflective of the persons to which the project matters, the stakeholders. The POMM is grounded on several principles of the Value Focused Thinking (VFT) and Goal Question Metric (GQM) techniques. The evaluation of the proposed model was performed in two parts: a team of industry experts examined the principles of model and provided feedback on its practicability to practice, and a case study of a Caribbean educational institution’s IS graduate programme development was used to illustrate the procedures

ABSTRACT This paper investigates the move to a new era of learning by using mobility technology. M-learning is distinct in its focus on learning across contexts and learning with mobile devices. It takes advantage of learning opportunities offered by using mobile devices and wireless transmission to enhance the existing learning management systems (LMS) that can potentially provide important opportunities for learning and collaborative interaction. Moodle is one of the most attractive LMS around the world due to its outstanding features and reliability. Although portable technology offered anywhere-anytime discussions, the technical problems encountered when using the WAPenabled phones hindered participation in the ediscussions. In addition to presenting technical aspects of the WAP, the paper also introduce the advantages and disadvantages of using mobile technology in the learning process. Furthermore, this paper discusses the suitability and feasibility of using WAP technology devices for distance learning in real-time.

Mobile advertising holds strong promises to become the most highly targeted advertising medium offering new ways to target messages to users. By utilizing mobile advertising, companies can run marketing campaigns targeted to tens of thousands of people with a fraction of the costs and time compared to other direct marketing mediums. However, as mobile advertising is a novel approach, many aspects of it still need further investigation. Little is known regarding the effectiveness of mobile advertising campaigns and the factors contributing to their success. This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the advertising space and its influencing factors. First, the study investigates factors that influence mobile advertising from both the industry’s and consumer’s point of view. Second, based on a review of previous studies in the field, the author proposes a conceptual model for mobile advertising, which categorizes the factors in different groups and provides a holistic view of their impact in the mobile advertising space. 1

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) provide enormous potential for enhancing productivity of human resources in both public and private sectors. However, net returns on ICTs capital have been observed to be higher in many of the developed countries than in developing countries. This is because ICTs have enhanced productivity and competitiveness in various organisational processes including management of human resources in both public and public sectors. Using some examples from both developed and developing countries, the paper demonstrates how ICTs can enhance human resource productivity. However, most of the developing countries including Tanzania are yet to catch up with the above productivity enhancement observed in developed countries. The paper discusses some of the prerequisites needed to attain high human resource productivity from ICTs. For example, it is demonstrated that some of the recruitment and selection as well as promotion procedures do not value the ICT professional skills but academic qualifications for specific jobs requiring ICTs skills. The paper ends with some recommendations on how developing countries can raise the effectiveness of deploying ICTs in managing scarce resources including human resource. Some of the recommended measures have potentials through various ICTs multiplier effects to benefit local economies too if managed effectively.
