Performance Analysis of the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN Standard
, 1999
"... IEEE 802.11 is a relatively new standard for communication in a wireless LAN. Its need arose from the many differences between traditional wired and wireless LANs and the increased need for interoperability among different vendors. To date, detailed performance measures for this CSMA/CA protocol are ..."

TDMA based Approach on MAC Layer for IEEE Wireless LAN Standards
"... MAC layer is key of wireless network. TDMA approach is based on Maximum utilization of frequency spectrum. Packet error is also depending on frequency spectrum. The demands of WLAN Devices day by day increases exponentially and it operates in the specific narrow spectrum of frequency bands and also ..."

Abstract-IEEE 802.11 supports multiple transmission rates. Choosing an IEEE protocol for a network is highly dependent on the traffic load offered by this network as well as running application. In this paper, methods for improving performance of WLANs were investigated. Results shows that better tuning of WLAN PCF parameters for low speed WLAN, can be used to enhance network performance achieving performance compared to high speed WLAN.

A Short Look on Power Saving Mechanisms in the Wireless LAN Standard Draft IEEE 802.11
- IEEE 802.11. In The 6th WINLAB Workshop on Third Generation Wireless Systems, NewBrunswick,NJ
, 1997
"... This paper describes simulations of the power saving mechanism of the upcoming standard for wireless Local Area Networks IEEE 802.11[1]. They were performed in order to see how typical parameters influence the performance. Simulations were made for a adhoc -network with 8 stations. Figures for optim ..."

Study of mobility and QoS of 802.11 and 802.11e Wireless LAN standards
"... Quality of service (QoS) is a key problem in wireless environments where bandwidth is scarce and channel conditions are time varying and sometimes highly loss. Although IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN (WLAN) is the most widely used WLAN standard today, and the upcoming IEEE 802.11e QoS enhancement standard ..."
