The curvelet transform for image denoising

by Jean-Luc Starck, Emmanuel J. Candes, David L. Donoho - IEEE TRANS. IMAGE PROCESS , 2002
"... We describe approximate digital implementations of two new mathematical transforms, namely, the ridgelet transform [2] and the curvelet transform [6], [5]. Our implementations offer exact reconstruction, stability against perturbations, ease of implementation, and low computational complexity. A cen ..."

central tool is Fourier-domain computation of an approximate digital Radon transform. We introduce a very simple interpolation in Fourier space which takes Cartesian samples and yields samples on a rectopolar grid, which is a pseudo-polar sampling set based on a concentric squares geometry. Despite

Decimating Samples for Mesh Simplification

by Tamal K. Dey, Joachim Giesen, James Hudson - Proc. 13th Canadian Conf. Comput. Geom , 2001
"... Modern scanning devices allow to obtain a dense sample of discrete points from the surface of a physical object. A piecewise linear surface interpolating these points is computed to reconstruct the sampled surface. Typically such surfaces have a large combinatorial description since the input is usu ..."

is usually too dense. In this paper we present an algorithm to decimate the samples to eliminate oversampling. The algorithm decimates the sample with the guarantee that the remaining points are sufficient to reconstruct the surface and has a density controlled by an user input.

On the Processing of Decimated Signals

by Rimantas Pupeikis , 2008
"... Abstract. The aim of the given paper is development of a recursive approach for calculating the statistics of decimated realizations of a basic discrete-time signal, obtained by sampling a continuous-time one. The statistics values are calculated without storing decimated realizations in the memory ..."

Reconfigurable Decimation Filter

by Ashish Raman, Deepti Kakkar
"... Decimation filter is used to reduce the sampling rate for succeeding stages of an oversampling ADC. The speed of a successive-approximation ADC predominately depends on the decimator speed. This necessitates a need to design a high speed decimation filter to improve the overall system performance. A ..."

Decimals and liquidity: A study of the NYSE

by Sugato Chakravarty, Robert A. Wood, Robert A. Van Ness, Tarun Chordia, Bill Christie, Mike Cooper, Amy Edwards, Gene Finn, Michael Goldstein, Ananth Madhavan, Tim Mccormick, William T. Moore (the, Eric Sirri, George Sofianos - Journal of Financial Research , 2004
"... Using a carefully constructed matched sample of control (nondecimal) stocks, we isolate the effects of decimalization for a sample of NYSE-listed common stocks trading in decimals. We find that the quoted depth as well as the quoted and effective bid-ask spreads declined significantly following deci ..."

Adaptive decimation algorithm for image compression

by Anissa Zergainoh, Jean-pierre Astruc
"... Abstract:- This paper proposes a new lossy image compression method based on two-mixed transformation techniques. The first one employs an adaptive decimation algorithm to adjust the sampling rate to minimum local variance of the reconstructed image. To extract pixels on original image, the adaptive ..."

A filter bank for the directional decomposition of images: Theory and design

by Roberto H. Bamberger, Mark J. T. Smith - IEEE TRANS. SIGNAL PROCESS , 1992
"... This paper introduces a directionally oriented 2-D filter bank with the property that the individual channels may be critically sampled without loss of information. The passband regions of the component filters are wedge shaped and thus provide directional information. It is shown that these filter ..."

that these filter bank outputs may be maximally decimated to achieve a minimum sample representation in a way that permits the original signal to be exactly reconstructed. The paper discusses the theory for directional decomposition and the issues associated with maxi-mum decimation and reconstruction. In addition

Time-Varying Recursive Filters For Decimation

by And Interpolation Tim, Tim Hentschel, Gerhard Fettweis - Proc. 10th Euro. Sig. Processing Conf , 2000
"... Decimation and interpolation require filtering. In order to reduce the hardware effort, FIR filters with linear phase are implemented as polyphase filters often. Still, the number of coefficients cannot be reduced by this method. Comb filters implemented as cascaded-integrator-comb filters are hardw ..."
