Propagation Delays

by Multirate Wlans, Nonzero Round Trip, Pradeepa Bk, Joy Kuri
"... Abstract—In a multirate WLAN with a single access point (AP) and several stations (STAs), we obtain analytical expressions for TCP-controlled long file transfer throughputs allowing nonzero propagation delays between the file server and STAs. We extend our earlier work in [3] to obtain AP and STA th ..."

MAC Protocols that Exploit Propagation Delay in Underwater Networks

by Shiraz Shahabudeen, Mandar Chitre, Mehul Motani
"... Abstract—This paper discusses novel medium access control (MAC) protocols for underwater acoustic networks that utilize propagation delay to increase the network throughput. Traditional MAC design considers propagation delay as undesirable and attempts to mitigate its impact on throughput. The essen ..."

Effects of Inductance on the Propagation Delay and Repeater Insertion in VLSI Circuits

by Yehea I. Ismail, Eby G. Friedman , 2000
"... A closed-form expression for the propagation delay of a CMOS gate driving a distributed line is introduced that is within 5 % of dynamic circuit simulations for a wide range of loads. It is shown that the error in the propagation delay if inductance is neglected and the interconnect is treated as a ..."

Effect of Climatological Parameters on Propagation Delay through the Atmosphere.

by M. Maiti, M. Sc, M. Tech, Ajay K. Datta, Ph. D, P. K. Karmakar, Ph. D
"... This work examines the dependence of the meteorological parameters in determining propagation delay. It is found that variation of water vapor density and cloud liquid with height in addition to temperature variation plays a critical role in this phenomenon. It is shown that temperature lapse rat ..."

uring the last ten years, most major communications and broadcast systems and many other systems were converted from analog to digital. Examples of digital systems that we use every day include mobile phones, television, radio, and of course the Internet. CDs and MP3s are replacing records and tapes, and the number of digital cameras sold this year exceeded the number of analog cameras by a factor of three. In this chapter, you will see some of the basic building blocks that make all of these digital systems work. The material in this chapter is intended to provide a background that will be useful when studying digital communications test and measurement techniques described in later chapters.

Propagation Delay Estimation of Fading DS-CDMA Signals

by Stefan Parkvall, Erik Ström
"... In this paper we consider the problem of estimating the propagation delays of the transmitted signals in an asynchronous direct-sequence code division multiple access (DSCDMA) system operating over a fading channel. Two estimators based on subspace techniques are compared and the Cram'er-Rao Bo ..."
