Non-Linear Effects in Adaptive Linear Prediction
"... When a conventional NLMS adaptive filter is used to predict a process, especially when predicting several samples ahead, non-linear effects can be observed. These non-linear effects produce adaptive filter performance that exceeds that of the conventional Wiener filter, and engenders weight behavior ..."

Non-Linear Effects in Interference Contaminated Adaptive Equalization
- Proc. IASTED International Conf. Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition & Application
"... The presence of non-linear effects in adaptive filtering was observed previously in a wide sense stationary equalization scenario with narrowband interference. The influence of a variety of parameters on the magnitude of such non-linear effects was also investigated. While the adaptive filter appear ..."

Non-linear Effects of Taxation on Growth
, 2013
"... We study a model in which the effects of taxation on growth are highly non-linear. Marginal increases in tax rates have a small growth impact when tax rates are low or moderate. When tax rates are high, further tax hikes have a large, negative impact on growth performance. We argue that this non-li ..."

The generation of technological knowledge is paramount to our present development. Economic science concentrates on representing the functions of production applied to all sectors, e.g., the well known Cobb-Douglas model, associated with parameters such as capital and labor. Based on the paradigm, demonstrated in another paper, that the production of technological knowledge is governed by the same Cobb-Douglas type model, by the means of research and the intelligence level replacing capital, respectively labor, we are exploring the basic behavior of present days economies that are producing technological knowledge, along with the ‘usual ’ industrial production. Considering the intercorrelations of technology and industrial production we determine a basic behavior that turns out to be a ‘Henon attractor’, well known as one of the first analyzed systems that present chaotic behavior confined to strange attractors. The behavior inside the basin of the attractor’s dynamic shows some interesting features such as the fact that too little effort in technological knowledge production is associated to low industrial production, while too much resource allocation to technological production is also
Saturation and non-linear effects in diffractive processes
, 2004
"... Through a direct implementation of the saturation regime resulting from the unitarity limit in the impact parameter representation, we explore various possibilities for the energy dependence of hadronic scattering. We show that it is possible to obtain a good description of the scattering amplitude ..."

NON-LINEAR EFFECTS IN HIGH ENERGY HADRONIC INTERACTIONS
, 2005
"... The influence of non-linear interaction effects on the characteristics of hadronic collisions and on the development of extensive air showers (EAS) is investigated. Hadronic interactions are treated phenomenologically in the framework of Gribov’s Reggeon approach with non-linear corrections being de ..."

NON LINEAR EFFECTS IN ION INDUCED ELECTRON EMISSION
"... High-resolution zero-degree electron spectra, total electron yields as well as Auger-electron spectra have been taken for 5 MeV/u ions (N7+, S13+, Ni23+, and Ag37+) penetrating carbon and insulator foils at normal incidence. A shift of the convoy-electron velocity with respect to the experimentally ..."

Non-linear effects in seismic base isolation
- Proceedings of the Romanian Academy
"... Abstract:- By interposing a layer with low horizontal stiffness but with high damping characteristics between the structure and his foundation, an aseismic isolation system partly decouples the building structure from the horizontal components of the earthquake ground motion and thus diminishes the ..."

the dynamic structural response. Thus, in the dynamic response evaluation of a base-isolated system the nonlinear behavior of both isolator and site layers must taken into account. This paper presents a method for the necessary period-shift determination by using the dynamic linear or/and nonlinear
