Statistical learning theory was introduced in the late 1960’s. Until the 1990’s it was a purely theoretical analysis of the problem of function estimation from a given collection of data. In the middle of the 1990’s new types of learning algorithms (called support vector machines) based on the developed theory were proposed. This made statistical learning theory not only a tool for the theoretical analysis but also a tool for creating practical algorithms for estimating multidimensional functions. This article presents a very general overview of statistical learning theory including both theoretical and algorithmic aspects of the theory. The goal of this overview is to demonstrate how the abstract learning theory established conditions for generalization which are more general than those discussed in classical statistical paradigms and how the understanding of these conditions inspired new algorithmic approaches to function estimation problems. Symbolic Model Checking without BDDs
, 1999
"... Symbolic Model Checking [3, 14] has proven to be a powerful technique for the verification of reactive systems. BDDs [2] have traditionally been used as a symbolic representation of the system. In this paper we show how boolean decision procedures, like Stalmarck's Method [16] or the Davis ..."

Symbolic Model Checking: 10^20 States and Beyond
, 1992
"... Many different methods have been devised for automatically verifying finite state systems by examining stategraph models of system behavior. These methods all depend on decision procedures that explicitly represent the state space using a list or a table that grows in proportion to the number of st ..."

The generality of our method comes from using a dialect of the MuCalculus as the primary specification language. We describe a model checking algorithm for MuCalculus formulas that uses Bryant’s
Symbolic Model Checking for Realtime Systems
 INFORMATION AND COMPUTATION

⊕OBDD in Symbolic Model Checking ⋆
"... Abstract. We present a feasibility study of using ⊕OBDD data structure in symbolic model checking (SMC). ⊕OBDD has been proposed as a more succinct modification of well known OBDD data structure which is of common use in nowadays SMC. We introduce three modifications of ⊕OBDD, analyze their respe ..."

Symbolic Model Checking
"... Model checking is a popular formal verification technique for both software and hardware. The verification of concurrent software predominantly employs explicitstate model checkers, such as Spin, that use partialorder reduction as a main technique to deal with large state spaces efficiently. In this approach for verification, temporal specifications are exhaustively verified over the statespace of the concurrent system. One of the possible ways to overcome this limitation is to avoid explicit enumeration of the state space. These approaches, commonly known as Symbolic Model Checking, uses
