Specification and Verification of Polling Real-Time Systems (Extended Abstract)
- Formal methods for real-time systems are an important topic of contemporary research. The aim is to cope with the additional complexity of ``time'' in specification and verification. In [Die99b] we present an approach to the correct design of real-time programs implemented on ``Programmable Logic Co

A Process Algebra for Real-Time Programs
- We introduce a generalised notion of a real-time specification language ("GPLC-Automata") that can be translated directly into real-time programs. In order to describe the behaviour of several GPLCAutomata implemented on one machine we introduce composition operators which form a process algebra. We

The Production Cell: A Verified Real-Time System
- This paper applies and refines the ProCoS approach to transformational design of real-time systems to a benchmark case study, the Karlsruhe production cell [10, 9]. We start by formalizing the informal requirements of [10, 9] in Duration Calculus and end with a distributed controller architecture wh

Synthesising Controllers from Real-Time Specifications
- We present an algorithm for synthesising controllers specified in a subset of the interval temporal logic Duration Calculus [13]. The synthesised controllers are given as PLC-Automata [5] and these can be implemented directly on PLCs [5]. We demonstrate the behaviour of the algorithm by an example.

Comparing Model-Checking and Logical Reasoning for Real-Time Systems
- In recent years model-checking of real-time systems has become popular because several tools have been developed implementing theoretical results (e.g. [ACD90]) about Timed Automata [AD94]. In this paper we test the usage of these tools applied to an example which can be easily handled with Duration

PLC-Automata: A New Class of Implementable Real-Time Automata
- We introduce PLC-Automata as a new class of automata which are tailored to deal with real-time properties of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). These devices are often used in industrial practice to solve controlling problems. Nevertheless, PLC-Automata are not restricted to PLCs, but can be see

Time, Abstraction and Heuristics Automatic Verification and Planning of Timed Systems using Abstraction and Heuristics
- Specification and verification of programs is a research issue since the beginning of computer science. As a consequence many approaches were proposed and many program classes and properties have been investigated. In this thesis we put our emphasis on systems which have to satisfy properties that d

A Unifying Framework for Correct Program Construction
- . We present a description technique for the correct construction of programs that allows us to define terms like refinement, modelchecking, and synthesis as special operations within this framework. From that meta-view on program constructions both advantages and disadvantages of all methods me

Modelling and Verifying of a "Cash-Point Service" using Moby/PLC
- Moby/plc is a graphical design tool for PLC-Automata, a special class of hierarchical real-time automata suitable for the description of distributed real-time systems that are implementable on a widely used hardware platform, so-called Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). In this paper we sketch t

Constructing Test Automata from Graphical Real-Time Requirements
- A semantics for a graphical specification language of real-time properties (Constraint Diagrams) is presented. The new semantics is given in terms of Timed Automata. A model in terms of Timed Automata satisfies the property given by a Constraint Diagram if the model in parallel composition with t
