Variable Azimuthal Anisotropy in
"... A persistent reversal in the expected polarity of the initiation of vertically polarized shear waves that graze the Dµ layer (the layer at the boundary be-tween the outer core and the lower mantle of Earth) in some regions starts at the arrival time of horizontally polarized shear waves. Full wavefo ..."

waveform modeling of the split shear waves for paths beneath the Caribbean requires azimuthal anisotropy at the base of the mantle. Models with laterally coherent patterns of transverse isotropy with the hexagonal symmetry axis of the mineral phases tilted from the vertical by as much as 20- are consistent
Azimuthal anisotropy: the higher harmonics
, 2004
"... Abstract. We report the first observations of the fourth harmonic (v4) in the azimuthal distribution of particles at RHIC. The measurement was done taking advantage of the large elliptic flow generated at RHIC. The integrated v4 is about a factor of 10 smaller than v2. For the sixth (v6) and eighth ..."

(v8) harmonics upper limits on the magnitudes are reported. Anisotropic flow, an anisotropy of the particle azimuthal distribution in momentum space with respect to the reaction plane, is a sensitive tool in the quest for the quark-gluon plasma and the understanding of bulk properties of the system
Azimuthal Anisotropy Measurements by STAR
"... The recent study of centrality and transverse momentum (pT) dependence of inclusive charged hardron elliptic anisotropy (v2) at midrapidity (|η | < 1.0) in Au+Au collision at sNN = 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, and 39 GeV in STAR Beam Energy Scan program is presented. We show that the observed increase of ..."

Azimuthal anisotropy in the Iithosphere from observations
"... The paper gives a detailed description of the technique for measuring azimuthal anisotropy which was suggested earlier by Vinnik, Kosarev & Makeyeva (1984) and used by Kind et ai. (1985). The technique is based on the observations of long-period converted phases like SKS. Additionally, we descri ..."

Observations of Azimuthal Anisotropy in Prestack Seismic Data
"... A method for displaying prestack seismic data that highlights azimuthal anisotropy is shown. Observations of azimuthal anisotropy in prestack seismic data using this and other methods make it clear that azimuthal anisotropy is observed in all types of seismic data, land, marine and multicomponent an ..."

Azimuthal anisotropy and correlations in p+p,
, 2004
"... Abstract. We present the first measurement of directed flow (v1) at RHIC. v1 is found to be consistent with zero at pseudorapidities η from −1.2 to 1.2, then rises to the level of a couple of percent over the range 2.4 < |η | < 4. The latter observation is similar to data from NA49 if the SPS ..."

rapidities are shifted by the difference in beam rapidity between RHIC and SPS. Back-to-back jets emitted out-of-plane are found to be suppressed more if compared to those emitted in-plane, which is consistent with jet quenching. Using the scalar product method, we systematically compared azimuthal

Abstract. Recent differential measurements of elliptic flow are used to probe several hydrodynamic scaling predictions. Eccentricity scaling is observed for Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV, suggesting essentially complete thermalization of the high energy density matter produced in these collisions. An estimate of the speed of sound is also obtained from the eccentricity scaled elliptic flow. The predicted mass scaling is observed for particles with transverse kinetic energy KET up to ∼ 1 GeV. For KET values above ∼ 1 GeV, valence quark number scaling compatible with partonic degrees of freedom is observed.
